Over at The Movie Blog we often speculate on who is going to be the next big action star on the big screen. Many of the names we know and trust are just getting old. We know Jackie Chan is getting a little old to keep up to the standards and so does he. So he is running a reality show to name his successor.

The TV show is jointly produced by Beijing TV, JCE Entertainment Ltd, China Film Group and Hong Kong-based Emperor Entertainment Group.

Applications for the show began on January 1. Anyone between 18 to 28 with certain action performance backgrounds can apply to participate in this TV competition.

The final competition is scheduled to take place this October at the Great Wall and broadcast live on Beijing TV.

The 10 finalists are expected to receive professional training at Jackie Chans JCE Entertainment Ltd. They will star as lead roles in several upcoming movies produced by Jackie Chan.

It is very trendy lately to run a Reality TV contest to name your successor. Recently INXS replaced the late Michael Hutchence on Rockstar:INXS, and then a new band made up of music greats followed suit on the next season with Supernova.

It all started with American Idol, and it seems to be working to bring us the next generation of Top Models and singing stars alike.

Time will tell if this show actually produces us a talent that has enough ability to replace Jackie Chan. This will also give Jackie a chance to move on to different roles as he already expressed that he wanted to try.
