As season 6 of Smallville draws in for its last stretch of episodes, we get wind of some rumours.
We’re hearing some strong buzz that at least one of Smallville’s opening-credits cast members might not be back as a series regular for Season Seven.
Speculation is wide open as these rumours give no hint as to who it might be… if anyone at all!
I think removing Lana is inevitable. But not yet. As much as Smallville has deviated from its original Comic book origins, it seems that sooner or later we will see Lois and Clark together, and so long as Lana is around Clark will barely look at another girl. Removing a character doesn’t always mean death, but I have a theory that might just work out.
I think it would be interesting to have Lois die. I always thought the character of Chloe Sullivan was very much the Archetype for Lois Lane. That and for my tastes, I think Chloe is the most attractive of the girly entourage on the show. But that’s just me.
Now bear with me a moment, killing off Lois will be AWESOME for ratings as it will send the fans into a frenzied mess of contraversy. Make it part of the cliffhanger season finale and keep the fans guessing until fall. Then reveal that she is infact dead. Fans will be in an uproar that Lois was killed off in the show, and no one will see it coming.
Then give some plot device that has Chloe get in some sort of trouble, and have her assume Lois’ identity. This way Chloe still pursues her career at the Planet. Make it a permenant part of the TV Continuity, and Lois and Clark can still end up together.
Personally I think Chloe is a better “reporter” but I do have to admit that Lois is definitely putting on the snappy attitude and fearless gutsy drive that makes Lois so successful. I won’t say that my idea is going to happen, and likely wont. I’m sure most of the fans don’t have the same Ga-ga factor over Chloe as they do for Lois and her impressive cleavage.
I could live without Lois, and I am hoping that Chloe sticks around. But I honestly don’t want either of them off the show.
Other rumours that are whisping around include Clark fighting Bizarro but this one will be more of a mirror image of Clark much like his mental battle with the dark tainted Superman in Superman 3.

Killing off Lois would be amazing for the ratings, with all the fans being in a uproar. But I don’t think that will happen.
My pick, if they are in fact losing a cast member, would be Lionel, maybe Lex kills him and that pushes Lex over the edge into true evil.
If Lionel goes, don’t be surprised if Lana gets blood on her hands.
That girl has a dark side we haven’t seen yet.
Rodney, Chloe becoming Lois IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN, put it to rest you Chlois fans, and it’s confirmed in the spoilers that Martian Manhunter and Bizzaro Clark is going to be in the finale.
Martian Manhunter already made his cameo. I was expecting him to come around sooner or later.

Some people MUST like Lana, and the Lana-Clark-Lex storyline; they spend so much time on that stupid 90210-ish stuff.
Chloe is the best character on the show. There have been rumors of her death for 2 seasons now. They even “killed” her once this year (in the Martian Manhunter/Clark dream).
They do have to get rid of Lionel eventually…so it would make sense that it would be him that goes. Although it would be ashamed to loose the superb acting of John Glover.

Two characters will be gone: I agree with Lionel, but the other is a toss up between Lana and Chloe, although I’m leaning more to Lana.
The storylines for this program have always thrown me for a loop (like introducing Lex and Lois in Smallville? WTF) but since I can’t complain (especially after all this time) I’m going to say that Lana leaves, one way or another. Lionel is killed off, and Lex skeem’s all his dad’s personal and business money!
Please be right and please let it be Lana that goes. She is a good actress and all but the character plot has been lost for a long time. The whole in the hospital almost every episode and her always being a ultra hypocrite with Clark and Lex is just lame. It is truly time to let Clark find Superman and push the building of relationships for the Justice League Unlimited side of the story.
While I like Chloe Lois is way funnier in her interactions with Clark. Durance also makes Welling a better actor in a way that most of the other cast dont.

Rodney, you Chloiser, you. I too think Chloe is the better Iconic Lois Lane. She rocks as the driven, intelligent and determined reporter that I associated with the Lois Lane of the movies. And, she and Clark have developed an amazing relationship over the years - everything that “Lois and Clark” is when they’re together.
Ah the Chlois Theory! It could very well save SMALLVILLE, in my honest opinion. Chloe makes the perfect Lois in my eyes. Check out: chlois.org

As for deaths, my preference would be edLois too, but since the rumor says its one of the CORE FOUR, it leaves Durance off (darn…)

I’m all for Chloe turning out to be Lois Lane. She’s my favorite. I don’t want Lana to do though. If she goes too soon, she’ll become St. Lana and everyone will have to mourn her. I’d rather she stick around so she and Chloe can have a rematch of their fight in Delete but for real this time.
I have long thought that Chloe is iconic Lois Lane in disguise. She is intelligent, tough, smart, witty, loyal, determined, and snarky. She is a truth-seeker and her power is her pen. She managed to put away Lionel when she was still in high school! And she is a great investigative reporter. She’s Clark’s confidante and best friend. Clark acts like the hero he is when he’s with her. Clark and Chloe are better together. I’d love to see your scenario on Smallville.
Lois needs to go. She adds nothing to Smallville. All the fake, overhanging implants do nothing for the iconic character of Lois other than cheapened the character of Lois. Lois was a feminist before there was a feminist movement. The Lois of Smallville is such a turn off. She looks so middle age with lines around her mouth. You know she can’t be in her 20’s. Those big, fake plastic boobs do not add to her lack of sex appeal. How can Lois in Smallville be the younger version of Lois of Superman. Get Real!!! Get rid of Lois. Chloe becoming Lois is not a bad idea. At least she has the youth, the snap and brains to be the Lois character.
The Chlois Theory makes Smallville make sense to me.
I like the idea because it shakes things up with the traditional story and thinks outside the box.
It’s been set up for a good while and has a lot of evidence to back it up…they just need to impliment it.
I have to agree..the Chlois Theory would save the show. And with the spoilers for the finale i could see it happening. I mean, did you read? The rumor is that Lois gets Chlois story about the level 33.1(with Lionel’s help). If it’s true i just can’t see how Lois will look good, stealing(kinda..maybe she won’t know that it’s her cousin’s story but she is going to steal Chloe’s life, her dreams…)Chlois story that she is already writing.
IMO, if they kill Chloe or if she doesn’t becomethe best reporter of the Daily Planet it’s going to be really unfair.
At this point it was made to see Lana is dead and while Lana has overstayed her welcome on this show by about six years, I doubt she’s gone for real. If only they’d killed her before the destruction iof the hero’s character in season five when he slept with her knowing she’d hate him if she knew who he really was. It was an appalling moment for the future Superman but it became even worse this year when we got to watch the “hero” repeatedly kiss stalk this same sef-centered and manipulative girl now engaged/married to another man. Can’t we please get rid of this horrible girl for good?
I think Lionel will have to die at some point and that Lex will kill him. Lana already tried after all, in Nemisis and that was a window into her dark and selfish interior that made clear how awful seh really is for those who continue to want to extend her every sympathy and excuse for her unacceptable behavior.
After six years, it’s past time for the hero to come to his senses and dump this horrible girl after fully acknowedging what a disgusting human being she really is. I hope we can get rid of this awful character so that Chloe, the one character who gives Clark the support and encouragement he needs can finally bloom once Smallville is no longer focused on the teen angst nonsense. It has always been Chloe, portrayed by the wonderful Allison Mack, who has the only real chemistry with Clark (Tom Welling) on this show and the producers have been crazy not to take advantage of that all along. Tom and Allison bring a synergy to the show that is absent when he’s on screen with anyone else.
So getting rid of Lana AND “Lois” would be not only a great twist but a welcome relief from the hamster wheel of Lana and the non-starter “Lois.” I hope the producers don’t ruin the seventh season of Smallville as they did the sixth by more revolting Lanaville.
