One of the cooler things I like about Smallville is that aside from being filmed here, both Lana and Lois are played by Canadians. Well according to the news recently, the producers of Smallville are trying to blow us up!

Kryptonsite reports:

Firefighters and police in areas near Smallville filming were warned of an explosion that would transpire on Wednesday afternoon. People were told, in reports in newspapers and on the radio, that the “the explosion in a private lot is not real,” and that it would be “a simultated special effect that could potentially be heard within a ten-block radius.” Emergency crews were notified of the plans of the Smallville production in advance.

This is confirmed to be part of the season finale.

What I also find interesting is that they are filming an actual explosion of this magnitude makes me wonder if they felt that CGI just wouldnt make a real enough explosion, or perhaps 5lbs of plastique explosives were cheaper than a team of 5 CGI artists?
