So I am giddy with the return of Heroes tonight, and the PVR is all warmed up as it seems Nathan Fillion’s DRIVE is airing at the same time and will be followed up with 24. Busy night of new episodes! TVGuide gives us a preview of what is to come that is spoilerific and encouraging.
“Peter is always getting the s–t kicked out of him,” Ventimiglia notes during a break in the fight. “I now go to a chiropractor. I have regular sessions with a masseuse. I just got an MRI. This show is killing me!” But he gives as good as he gets: “Sylar enters the battle with his usual arrogance, but he’s in for quite a shock,” Quinto says. “He has no idea that Peter has learned to harness his powers so strongly. It’s a reminder that he can’t get too cocky.”Plus, he may not be the total badass we think he is. “The audience will become more conflicted about Sylar and begin to care about him as the show goes along,” Kring teases. “Don’t assume you know everything about him.”
The article gives away a little too much and yet not a lot at all. The bits it gives away is in an episode set 5 years in the future as a “what if” kind of glimpse of the future, so the events in that episode are not directly impacting on the current storyline, yet they influence the “who I want to be” aspect of those who get the glimpse of what is to come.
However reading the spoilers, we find out somethings about Linderman that I didn’t want to know just yet, so be warned before clicking on the link.
But just so you know, tonight is the return of Heroes, and the beginning of some REAL action and direct conflicts that this entire season has been working up towards. They’ve pit Peter and Sylar as the two major players, and this is only their first throwdown. Series creator Tim Kring says, “It’s not their ultimate showdown — it’s more like the trailer for things to come.”
