Mentioned almost as a side note in an article about the CW lineup in the fall, it is made official that Veronica Mars is in fact cancelled.

Yahoo News quips:

The CW had already faced major changes in its second year. The network created out of the ashes of the former WB and UPN had already ended the long-running family dramas “7th Heaven” and “Gilmore Girls.” On Thursday the ax fell on “Veronica Mars,” which starred
Kristen Bell as a wisecracking teenage private eye.

Its a sad day for those of us who swoon over Veronica’s witty banter and deliciously hot looks.

What is worse, is that they knew about this for a while now but kept the fanbase on the edge of our seats wondering about the fate of the show. Will it be renewed? Will it be a fastforward? Will anyone tell us????

But just to add a layer of “you dont matter” to the cake, the show doesn’t even get a climactic buildup to a proper send off. Tonight we saw previews leading up to this Tuesday’s “Season Finale” of Veronica Mars.

Not Series Finale. Season. Like they forgot this show is never coming back.

Guess I will have to wait for Fanboys to geek out over Bell. Hopefully she will show up in SOMETHING on TV so we can get our fix.

A long time ago, we used to be friends. But I dont see much of you lately…

Nothing to do with VM but I’ve read Bell will be narrating the new CW series Gossip Girls.

This is one of those things where we get reminded that it’s all a business. Frackin’ reality shows like ‘pussycat dolls’ get picked up, while quality television like VM gets the shaft.

UPN or CW never marketed VM very well. There are some people I know who never even heard of it.

One thing that bugs me. I really, really wish that when this happens, they would give shows a 2 hour TV or DVD movie to wrap things up.

Maybe we’ll get lucky, and Rob Thomas will go back and film a new ending for next week wrapping things up…maybe flash forward a couple of years. That would make it a little easier to handle.

Sad to see the show go. The first season was amazing.

xgdfalcon, the last episode will be a 2hr. Maybe they will treat us with the last episode they had intended to air, and actually show the fast forward treatment that was filmed of Veronica 5 years later.

Apparently they filmed a short segment to present to the bastards who canceled it anyways. Perhaps they used it.

NO WAY! Is it a done deal? I love the show. It’s definitely one of the best ones out there.

How come not a lot of people watch this?
