Torchwood Comes to CBC
Torchwood (an anagram of Doctor Who and featured as a recurring plot point of season 2) the Doctor Who spin-off series is coming to the CBC this fall. The channel hasn’t mentioned when the show will be airing, and I personally am a little unsure of how much of it will make broadcast.
Unlike Doctor Who, which though occasionally creepy is aimed at family viewers, Torchwood is definitely a more adult series featuring language, sex, adult material and subject matter. While I enjoyed it, it has no where near the same appeal as the new Doctor Who series does, though it is fun to watch Captain Jack (John Barrowman) run around and hit on just about anyone and anything!
The series got troubling reviews from some critics in the UK as it left behind it’s core Doctor Who audience, the young, and positioned itself as a more grown-up program.
If you’re a rabid fan of the new Doctor Who the series is not necessarily a must, but it will certainly fill the time until the next series of Doctor Who starts, or series 3 comes to DVD.
