But there's something deeper than he's willing to show, and Piven plays this role to perfection. In a majority of the "family" situations we watch, I can't believe his wife hasn't kicked him out, or worse. But as Ari said in the episode with the shrink "goodbye wife number 1, and shrink number 7"...to which the wife states "you're only our 5th". At least they keep trying.
