Do you miss Joss Whedon’s Angel? Well a similar show is being presented on CBS called Moonlight. It’s based around a private investigator that solves real crimes as well as supernatural ones. How is this like Angel? Well the PI is a vampire.
“Angel” co-creator David Greenwalt took over the show last month and since his arrival, changes have been significant. First, Mick’s human love interest went from Shannon Lucio’s intrepid TV reporter to Sophia Myles’ dogged Internet reporter. Then 25-year-old “Veronica Mars” star Jason Dohring replaced 60-year-old Rade Serbedzija as Mick’s immortal mentor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which has slowly disseminated the recasting news through the week, “Moonlight” has now completed its overhaul with the Sossamon addition.
The show had a completely different feel then suddenly went through a lot of changes to make it more appealing to the younger tv viewing audience. Not surprising to find that David Greenwalt would be behind these changes or why he was brought on board to begin with.
It almost makes you wonder if David Boreanaz was not already enjoying a successful run on Bones, would they have replaced the lead with him and just called this show Angel?
The fans would have eaten up a return to Angel, but instead we get to see this “new” show about a vampire investigator as we continuously compare it to Angel.

It certainly is an indirect compliment to Angel - who got way less direct compliments than it deserved.
Just think: had CBS taken over WB one year earlier - it would have had the real thing!
As it is, the promos I saw for this, look like Cordelia’s cheesy video “The Dark Avenger”
I absolutely LOVE “Moonlight”! You guys are so crazy to not love it! Mick is the hottest vampire I’ve seen in a long time and the plot is so intense it’s crazy!
