Homestar Runner Denies Adult Swim

According to Wired.com nutty cartoon website Homestar Runner was in brief talks with Comedy Central and Cartoon Network, but have backed away from both cable networks in favor of just staying on the web.

“There was a brief flirtation with Comedy Central and Adult Swim,” Matt said. “The whole TV thing seemed creepy. They wanted to plug it into their model — that all comedy was gag-related, not character-driven. They left the door open, but we liked what we were doing and kept doing it online.”

I don’t blame them. Even though both channels may seem to be liberal, I can see where the website’s creators would rather keep their projects under their own eyes, without any possible tampering from network execs. Although, from a channel that cranks out programs where Harvey Birdman can have a short love affair with Boo Boo, how much could it have possibly changed?

Doctor Who Series 3 Episode 1 Smith & Jones

Last night saw the return of Tennant’s Doctor and his TARDIS to the CBC, which also co-produces the show. The first episode of the third series moves quickly, and has some nice moments as the Doctor meet’s up with Martha Jones, an aspiring med-student. There’s an alien on the loose and it’s up to the intergalactic police force (or thereabouts) a rhinoceros-headed people called the Judoon to find her/him/it. They quarantine the hospital they’ve traced the alien too, which is where Martha is working and where The Doctor is doing a little investigation of his own. But to prevent it’s escape, they move the entire hospital to the moon.

It’s there that Martha starts to show that she can hold her own with our good friend The Doctor.

Unfortunately they can’t turn to the Judoon for help, as they are looking for an alien presence, and the Doctor is decidedly alien… Two hearts (”and by the way count those”) and all.

So it’s up to the Doctor, using his nom de voyage John Smith and Martha Jones to search out the alien who is prowling the hospital and feasting on patients and doctors with her straw. I did say straw?

Couple stand out moments, The Doctor is of course delighted that this hospital does in fact have a shop, a reference to Series 2’s New Earth, and when he has to shake out his radiation which requires him to shed his converse high tops (and yes I totally own a pair of those for the very reason that he wears them - thanks to my Sweetie who indulges me geekdom) and proclaim that he’s “Barefoot on the moon!”

Next week, it’s The Shakespeare Code, do I need to tell you who that involves?

Doctor Who Series 3 airs on CBC Mondays @8:00

Captain Jack - Time Agent Meet Spike - Vampire

This was a bit of good news for yours truly, being a big Doctor Who fan, and then by definition Torchwood, as well as a Joss Whedon junkie (I’m about to start reading his run on Marvel’s Runaways). James Marsters is going to be making a guest starring appearance in a second series episode of Torchwood. Filming will start in July, the episode however, won’t air til early next year.

Entourage Red Carpet: Season 4 Premier

In the most recent Ausiello Report “vodcast” on TV Guide Online Michael Ausiello hit the red carpet at the Season 4 Premier of Entourage.

Highlights of Ausiello’s “Entourage-apalooza” include:

• Rex Lee (Lloyd) dishes the big twist surrounding Lloyd’s “first” romance

• Kevin Dillon (Drama) kisses and tells about Drama’s French fling.

• Series creator Doug Ellin reveals what won’t happen in the Entourage series finale.

• Jerry Ferrara dances around the subject of Turtle’s real name.

A mystery as elusive as the secrets of the island on Lost, there doesn’t seem to be an answer in sight this season regarding the name on Turtle’s birth certificate. So I thought I’d open up this discussion – what do you think Turtle’s real name is? I think it might be Anthony. No reason in particular, he just looks like an Anthony to me.

Get your Ugly Betty Fix!

As the so far Betty-free summer rolls on, now might be a good time to check out the official site for the show over at ABC. There you can find a large variety of clips from season one episodes, podcasts hosted by everyone’s favorite office assistants, and behind-the-scenes video diaries.

Watching Ugly Betty has a nice analysis of the fathers we have come to know and love (or hate) over the past 23 episodes.

I was really looking forward to watching the reruns later this week, but my local TVGuide has some NBA game listed instead — but “Swag” is still slated to air per TVGuide.com. So, I’m guessing some of you might still get to see it. Enjoy!

Big Love: The Writing on the Wall

Monday night was the second episode of the season, The Writing on the Wall. The synopsis on HBO.com gives us:

Home Plus billboards have been defaced, leading Bill and Don to scramble for repairs and a rethinking of Bill’s public face on Home Plus. When Barb registers for college courses, her check bounces; the culprit turns out to be Nicki. At Juniper Creek, Joey finds himself caught between a rock and a hard place, driving him to fall off the wagon and sending Nicki (accompanied by Margene) on a remedial trip to the compound. Rebuked by Roman, Alby looks to settle his vendetta by approaching the D.A.’s office. Now working at Home Plus, Ben comes clean to Brynn about his family, while Sarah is caught in a lie with Scott. In the midst of crises, Bill and Barb forget Nicki’s anniversary, and Joey makes a decision that will have far-ranging implications.

I really enjoyed this episode. The plot of the defaced billboards that HBO had been teasing wasn’t the real story. As always, the real story is the family dynamics.

****** Caution, I am about to discuss some stuff from the episode that may be considered SPOILERS. You have been warned. ******

Starting with seeing Nicki so happy (a rarity), was great. The look on her face when she realized that Bill and Barb forgot her anniversary was heartbreaking. Margene, as always, fights to keep the family together, and calls to remind Bill and Barb about the anniversary. How cute was it when she said, “Oh shit…sorry”.
Margene was the star of this episode (more on that later).

Barb gets a little more than she asked for when Ben decides he wants to introduce Brynn the WHOLE family. Ben lied to Bill to get him to agree (telling him that she already knew), but when Ben tells her, she freaks a little but seems to accept it. It seems that more and more civilians are finding out the Henrickson family secret; which now includes Sara’s new boy-friend.

Roman’s plan of blackmailing Joey seems to have backfired. Alby goes to the County Sheriff, which causes Joey to turn himself in to save Wanda. It looks from the previews that Roman isn’t going to take this behavior from Alby lightly.

We get another peek into Nicki’s money issues. She seems to still have a spending problem. Barb’s tuition check bounced because of Nicki and she doesn’t have the money to pay her back. She even has to borrow money from Margene. This is an ongoing story-line that I think will continue to impact the relationships in the show.

Now back to Margene. She’d never been to the compound before, and tags along with Nicki when Wanda askes for help. What a first visit!

Joey Drunk, the State Police show up, and crazy Wanda. But she handled it really well. She held things together. Didn’t freak. It was a shame that Nicki didn’t give Margene any credit when she was recounting the story to Bill at dinner (though Margie didn’t seem to realize). Margene was THE star of this episode.

I could go on and on with all the other happenings in this episode. It is amazing that they are able to so nicely pack so much information into a single episode and keep it entertaining throughout. It is evident that this season’s main theme revolves around the reasons each of the spouses are in the plural-marriage. Nicki’s explains her feelings in detail tonight in her final talk with Barb, and we’ve gotten little hints of each in these first 2 episodes (including Ben’s explanation to Brynn). I imagine we’ll be getter more insight throughout this season.

Dead Zone Season 6 Premier

What a way to open a new season. Usually when major surprises- and deaths- are done in a show, it isn’t until sweeps week, or near a season cliffhanger. But when TWO characters bite the dust, including a major character by the end of the episode, it really gets the series kicking off to a new start.

***NOTE: THere are **spoilers** for thse who missed the episode. Read with caution***

In this episode, Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall), Sarah (Nicole DeBoer, JJ (Connor Price) and Walt Bannerman (Chris Bruno) take off to the Faith Heritage Winter Festival, but then throughout the day Johnny has visions of Walt in the past tense. Johnny tells this to Walt, but both agree to not to tell Sarah, who is six months pregnant. Johnny closely watches Walt and finds clues that prevents possible tragedies from taking place. Then Johnny has a vision of Walt being alive- only this time, it is Reverend Purdy’s funeral.

Walt meets with a mysterious old woman who gives him a letter. Upon reading it, he discovers Johnny is in for a ’surprise’. As Johnny tries to warn Purdy of disaster, he finds the chapel on fire. Stillson’s right hand man Malcom Janus and Walt-who saved Purdy, die in the fire. When Stillson comes to console Sarah and Johnny, a handshake now reveals that, for now, Stillson’s involvement in nuclear war has been averted, perhaps for good. Bruce consoles Johnny in that Walt may have been fated to die regardless.

*******

For me, I didn’t see it coming, but in a way, I’m more glued than ever. In past seasons, Johnny has seen visions of people dying, and has taken action to stop the disasters, but now his abilities are in question because he cannot stop everything, and this will be a major theme in the rest of the season. In any case, that’s one heck of a shake-up, isn’t it? It takes a lot of guts for a series to knock off characters, but TWO in the season opener? Has that ever happened before?

Robot Chicken Star Wars Special

I have been longing for Robot Chicken’s late night raping (or tribute?) to the Almighty Star Wars ever since I first sensed it’s forthcoming (a.k.a. read about it on the internet), and guess what my friends! It does not to satisfy!

For a show that was supposedly made in cohorts with George Lucas, it does not hold back on it’s punches, which leads me to question how much the Dark Lord of Wooden Dialogue had to do with the show. My quess is that he just slapped the approval on it and phoned in his lines without much of a care. Honestly, I really don’t care if this is Lucas endorsed or not! It was the best twenty three and a half minutes of television last night!

I’ll try not to spoil anything, but some of the best moments are the quick flips. Wait till you hear the words “that was so wrong!” Trust me, the resulting laughter will seduce you into the dark side!

The only downside was that they reused three skits from previous episodes. They are funny skits, but we’ve seen them already. But overall, it was a satisfying event, and I quite enjoyed it.

I give the special a 9 out of 10, and if you are a fan of either Robot Chicken or Star Wars, you should definately check this out!

Steve Carell Interview

Sunday night Steve Carell was interviewed on Dateline NBC by Stone Phillips. Probably because he was there to promote his new feature film, Evan Almighty, not a lot of airtime was spent discussing The Office or Michael Scott. However, on msnbc.com there is additional footage which didn’t make it on the air.

In describing Michael Scott, Carell says, “That character is someone with a huge emotional blind spot. He thinks that people love him. He thinks that people think he’s charming and witty…and he’s none of those.”

When asked if he likes Michael, Carell replied, “I do. I think he’s got a very good heart. I don’t think he’s a bad person. I don’t think he’s a mean person. He just says the wrong things. To the wrong people. All the time. Every day. For his entire life.”

I think that sums up Michael Scott pretty well. The fact that Carell can make him a semi-sympathetic character speaks to Carell’s acting ability. In another actor’s hands Michael could very easily be an annoying, one-dimensional dolt but Carell somehow manages to make him …a likable, multi-layered dolt.

Entourage Season 4 Premier

Following a two-week hiatus, Entourage started its fourth season with a “documentary” on the making of Medellin. When Season Three ended, Vincent Chase had sacrificed his home and money to have his dream project come to fruition, with the financial assistance of Eric and trust fund baby Nicky Rubenstein, and the eccentric Billy Walsh at the helm as director. This episode took us to Bogotá, Colombia, where we’re given a Coppola-esque Hearts of Darkness look at the making of this film.

The unpredictable Billy Walsh goes off the deep end early on, insisting the script needs a new ending. He goes ahead with filming despite this, a feat that could shut down the entire production. He casts a sultry local as Vinnie’s co-star, and develops an infatuation with her, forbidding sex on the set, and interrogating the cast and crew to ensure no one is sleeping with her. Johnny Drama’s also smitten with this beauty, so rivalry ensues.

Vinnie is transformed into drug lord Pablo Escobar, and filming begins, with the looming threat of no ending hanging over the set, and weighing heavily on Eric’s mind. Eric is trying to keep the film on schedule and on budget, and Billy’s irrational methods keep threatening the already delicate balance. Billy decides only one person can write the ending, Steve Gaghan, who was a writer on Traffic, neglecting the lack of additional funds to cover Gaghan’s high fee. He even shuts everyone out of the dailies at one point, which we discover is due to his insecurities. In a very dramatic moment, Billy admits his self-doubt to Eric, and Eric is the one who manages to turn the director around.

The money for Gaghan eventually comes through, and he arrives in Colombia only to find out Billy’s already re-written the ending. Gaghan’s just earned the easiest $275K of his career. Tension mounts as we discover the final scene can only be filmed once, so it has to go off without a hitch. Despite the doubt, Billy manages to accomplish this feat. And it’s a stunning, perfectly orchestrated scene.

Some humor was injected into the episode, mainly through Johnny and Ari. Johnny struggles to remain cool with being a TV star, when he’s itching for a part in Medellin. And Ari, well, is Ari, worried about money, and that Vinnie may have sunk all of his money into this project in vain. In an ironic turn of events, Nicky Rubenstein, the money behind the making of Medellin, is arrested for cocaine possession on his way to catch his flight to Colombia.

This season premiere was a departure from the Entourage we know and love, but the episode was still great. I could really feel the uncertainty of everyone as Billy neared a total meltdown, potentially jeopardizing what Vinnie & Co had sacrificed to make this film. It was a really great behind the scenes documentary, and even more remarkable because this film doesn’t exist. When it was over, it left me with an unsettled feeling, as if nothing may ever be the same again for Vincent Chase, and his future depends on what this movie does. Am I alone on this, or did anyone else get that same vibe? I really enjoyed it, but here’s to hoping the next one will be a return to form.

Doctor Who Series 3 Episode 11 - Utopia

So how do you follow up last week’s incredible episode of Blink and push this exceptional show to the end of the series? Russell T Davies answer, as he run’s the show, and wrote this week’s ep, is apparently to create the loosest wirework of a story and hang all kinds of moments and payoffs from it. I found it served as more of a bridge episode than anything more, introducing and recalling important plot points, dialogue and ideas.

For a series that seems to be very story-driven the story this time around is probably the weakest of the series, but to me it’s still not a bad episode, because I’ve been following this new show since the first re-imagined episode, and I loved the character beats and moments that populated it.

Here’s a quick overview for you: The TARDIS materializes in Cardiff, atop the spatial/temporal rift to recharge. This is the same rift that is protected by Captain Jack Harkness and his crew at Torchwood. Captain Jack throws himself at the Police Box, and they are all thrown billions of years into the future, quite literally to the end of the universe. There are no stars in the sky, they’ve all burned out and humanity survives in vestiges around the universe, trying to answer a call that was sent out to come and join other survivors at Utopia.

An aged professor, Yana, played by the wonderful Derek Jacobi is stuck on one such planet working on a rocket to carry his tiny group of humans to this fabled planet, and suffering from an illness that may have direct impact and consequences on the Doctor.

Of course the Doctor and company arrive just in time to help him figure out why the machine won’t work, and help them get off the desolate rock and the hunting parties that are after the survivors.

As I said, the most basic of story structures but there are lots of things paying off in this ep. It serves more as a tie-up for everything that has happened so far in the 3 series and propelling us forward towards the series final episodes, and events beyond I’m sure.

It’s great to see John Barrowman return as Captain Jack in the Doctor Who universe (his name is included in the title credits!), and though he played off Eccleston’s Doctor, there is a great chemistry between him and Tennant as they reminisce about events in series 1. This of course causes more trouble for Martha, as it’s like watching two old friends get together and she’s relegated to third wheel, and hears lots more about Rose. Poor Martha.

Other things that were fun and intriguing… Jack continuing to flirt with anyone, regarldess of gender or species, and the Doctor’s repeated asmonishments of “Stop it.”

The reapparance of The Doctor’s severed hand from the Christmas episode of Series 2, which launched Tennant as the Doctor. If you watch Torchwood, watch for his hand to appear lots, as Jack tends to keep it close by.

And of course Jack dies… again… well, a couple of times really.

Some great lines… “We should really, really, really go.” says the Doctor in a slightly scared voice, and then breaks into a big ole smile before heading out the door to explore instead of fleeing. And after some discourse with Yana, “All that chatting, I forgot to tell you… I’m brilliant!”

There’s an incredible troubling and disturbing moment concerning a pocket watch, and the last words of the Face of Boe.

The last 5 minutes alone are worth the episode as it sees the appearance of Sam Tyler from Life On Mars, or rather John Simm the actor who potrays him, Which left me saying…

“Holy Frak! Holy Frell! Holy gods!”

Austrialia’s BBC Invasion Continues

Great television continues to make the rounds as the Robin Hood series and Life On Mars continue airing Down Under. After some preliminary investigation by my fiance we’ve discovered shows and times for both hit BBC series for viewers in Australia.
Both can be found on ABC and air consecutively!

Life On Mars Series 1 airs Sunday nights at 8:30 and air this week’s ep is just past the halfway point of Series 1, episode 5, which sees the beginning of football hooligans, and a chance brush with Sam’s past.

Robin Hood Series 1 is up to episode 10 Peace Off and airs an hour earlier on Sunday at 7:30.

Two solid hours of entertainment for those down under! And it looks like they’ve timed it so both series end at the same time, as there are 13 for Robin Hood and 8 for Life On Mars, though hopefully Life On Mars will continue on with it’s second series right after.

Fresh Faces on Grey’s Anatomy

Fresh Faces on Grey’s Anatomy

With the turnover of a few cast members (Isaiah Washington and Kate Walsh), it looks like we’ll be seeing some new characters on Grey’s Anatomy next season.

AOL says:

Executives tied to the show say the fourth-season plan is to add several cast members, including at least one fresh-faced new intern: Meredith Grey’s half-sister Lexi (Chyler Leigh) will become a frequent presence with a multi-episode story arc. They are also seeking a new recurring male character to compete with Patrick Dempsey’s Dr. McDreamy.

I’m very excited to be hearing this. I was hoping to see some new interns and hopefully they will bring a new dynamic to the show and introduce more characters for us to love. I’m glad to see that Lexi will be on for a while because I want to see that storyline developed. I am not so sure how I like to see a rival for McDreamy to vie for Meredith’s affections. Their relationship is screwed up enough without adding another guy into the mix, but new blood could bring some life to the show.

Sensational Sherri Passes Away

It is incredibly sad to report to all of you that WWE hall of famer and instrumental diva “Sensational” Sherri Martel has passed away

WWE.com reports

WWE is saddened to learn of the death of WWE Hall of Famer “Sensational” Sherri. She was 49.

She passed away at her mother’s home in Birmingham, Ala. Friday morning, according to her husband of 10 years, Robert Schrull.

“It’s a great loss to the wrestling world,” he told WWE.com. The couple resided in St. Petersburg, Fla.”

Professional wrestling has gained noteriety as a sport with an abundance of wrestlers who die before their time, however the expectation has not dulled the pain that comes with it. Growing up, she was the worst type of women. I was a child of early 90s WWF and I distincty remember her insane outfits and screams. For me, my fondest memories were her with The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels, I still chuckle to myself when I see footage of him cracking the mirror over her. She was a truly classy women and I know that she joins her fellow wrestlers in the great ring in the sky.

And that God’s ears….are going to be ringing for a long long time

Rest in Peace Sherri

Ari Gold – Father of the Year?!?

New York City, red carpet, HBO signage, and some of the most eligible bachelors in the world can only mean one thing – Season 4 of Entourage is here! “The Vine” at E! Online has an exclusive sneak peek on what’s in store for Vinnie Chase, Johnny Drama, E, Turtle, and particularly, potty-mouthed agent Ari Gold.

According to the man behind Ari, Jeremy Piven, this season he plans on “fleshing out the heart of this guy.” In a scene that includes a cameo from Dan Castellaneta as a school headmaster, Ari’s told that his ways could damage his children’s’ education.

I have to admit, if there’s one thing I love about Entourage, it’s Ari’s vocabulary. Just when you think he couldn’t get any more vulgar, he outdoes himself. He’s actually turned it into an art form, and the lingo has crossed over into the mainstream. How many people do you know who’ve used the phrase, “Hug it out, bitch” since it was first uttered in Season One? Speaking strictly from a character standpoint, as much as it would be nice to see a softer side of the uber-agent, especially for the benefit of his family, I don’t think Ari should drastically change his ways. After all, it’s his “never take no for an answer” attitude that has worked for him, and paid to give his family the life they have grown accustomed to. We have seen that Ari has a heart; remember how torn up he was over losing Vinnie as a client? And I think it went beyond the dollar signs.

Can Ari do what’s right for his kids and still keep his edge? If he reforms his crass ways, will he lose the magic that makes him one of the most intriguing characters on TV to date?

Pirate Master Episode 3 Recap – “Bribes, Lies, and Vengeful Eyes”

This week’s chapter in the saga of the Picton Castle and its crew of pirates began with the usual uneasiness toward its Captain Joe Don. The divide on the ship is very clear, those being paid are happy and those not being paid are not. But with a new expedition brings the chance for a new captain.

The expedition for the Quarter Master’s treasure began with a boat race to shore pitting Joe Don and his officers Ben and Cheryl leading the Black crew against the Red Crew. Azmyth was again on the Red Crew who, along with Jay, led the crew to shore and an early lead. Alexis, of the Black Crew, interestingly appeared to be just taking her time and enjoying the scenery. Is this the first great bit of strategy and she is working on behalf of the Red Crew or is she just easily distracted and lazy? Meanwhile the Red Crew continued up the Bamboo trail and reached the Sabotage, which resulted in some bamboo collapsing on the Black Crew. The Red Crew then reached a raging river where the key to the treasure was hidden in a skull near a head-less skeleton. Jon Don and his crew made there way to the river as well but it was too late as Louie dove and found the key to the treasure. The Red Crew made quick work of finding the Quarter Master’s treasure behind a waterfall and won the expedition.

Joe Don’s reign of terror is over. Now that it is over, I feel a little bit for JD. Strategically, I think being the first captain was a tough place to be. You are immediately given the burden of half of the treasure. With the treasure you pretty much have to keep the half you are given or split the treasure evenly among those on your crew. You either screw them or screw yourself. JD took the former and everyone resents him for it. I would like to see him stick around at least another week and get a fair shake.

Back on the good-ship Picton Castle, Azmyth is unanimously named the new Captain. Azmyth in turn names Jupiter and Jay as officers. Personally I was surprised to see a captain elected so easily. They know that the new captain gets half of the treasure. But it looks like they made the correct decision so far because Captain Azmyth ended up splitting the $35,000 treasure evenly among the Red Crew.

Next up for the new captain was handing out the Black Spots for this week’s Pirate Court. Azmyth ended up going with Cheryl (because of Jay’s influence), Alexis for her overall laziness (and it looks like she wasn’t throwing the challenge after all), and Laurel (also for general laziness). After the Black Spots were announced Jay began to conspire against Cheryl. It was surprising to see Jay continue to support Joe Don but, as he said, as long as it remains lucrative for him, he will. Sean was on the fence and Jay offered him $1,000 to vote for Cheryl instead of Alexis which he accepted but later ignored. As usual we had lame speeches from everyone on trail but I guess Cheryl gave the best one. Like I said Sean ended up taking the money but lying to Jay and voting for Alexis. We’ll deal with that drama next week. But this week it ended up resulting in a tie between Alexis and former officer Cheryl. When there is a tie the captain must decide who gets cut adrift and Azmyth chose Alexis.

A new captain, the old captain remains on board, and more treasures to come. What do you think of Pirate Master? Does it stack up to other great reality games like Survivor?

Office Recap: Diwali

Yep, we are deep in the heart of rerun season. Time to catch up on the episodes we missed or if we did catch them the first time, watch ‘em again because we have nothing better to do. That being said, here is a recap and my impression, based on my second viewing, of this week’s The Office episode, Diwali.

The show starts with Michael explaining to the camera that, “One of our most ethnic coworkers, Kelly, has invited us all to a Diwali celebration put on by her community.”
He then goes on to explain that Diwali, “is about a bunch of gods with unpronounceable names…or essentially a Hindu Halloween.”

In an effort to educate the staff, Michael conducts an “Indian Culture Seminar” so, as he says, the staff won’t embarrass him later at the Diwali celebration. The seminar includes Michael handing out books on Karma Sutra (“because Indian people like sexual positions”) and a slideshow of famous Indian people, including Apu from The Simpsons.

Michael takes Carol (this is pre-Jan) to the Diwali celebration and as they arrive, Carol, donning a cheerleader outfit, is shocked to see that it is not a costume party, as Michael told her it would be. For Michael, who is wearing his “second head” costume from Season 2’s “Halloween”, it’s an easy fix – he takes off the second head. But Carol is stuck in the cheerleader outfit all night.

Most of the rest of the show is about culture clash…the food that’s offered, Kelly’s parents not happy by Ryan saving up his money for an x-box - not a family, and Angela, irritated she had to take her shoes off, standing guard to make sure no one steals them.

Finally, inspired by the fact that Kelly’s parents got married after only meeting once, Michael grabs a microphone, and in front of everyone asks a horrified Carol to marry him. Of course she wants no part of this and leaves.

The highs –
Angela was on fire - telling her co-workers not to attend the Diwali celebration because “they eat monkey brains”, snottily asking Kelly how many Gods she has and slamming Kevin on the condition of his bare feet. (Kevin – “I told you, it’s a disease!”)

Michael, having an intimate conversation with Kelly’s parents, asks the father “Is your marriage the type that if you die she has to throw herself on a fire?”

The above mentioned marriage proposal. This is the type stuff that makes The Office special. The moment is so awkward and uncomfortable you almost want to turn your TV off. Fantastic!

The lows –
Pretty weak b-story involving Jim, Karen and Andy working late and doing shots.

Kelly’s domineering Indian mother wanting Kelly to be with an Indian doctor instead of Ryan…how many times have we seen this? Seemed kind of lazy.

NED. Not enough Dwight.

Overall -
While it had a few lulls, I think Diwali was a good episode. Good, not great. But let’s face it, even an average episode of The Office is better then most of the other stuff out there. Did you catch Diwali? Let me know what you thought.

Lost Info Leaked?

Via TV Guide Editor Matt Roush,
news from Carleton Cuse & Damon Lindelof. The two Lost Producers are keeping hush hush at the moment, but will be spilling details of the upcoming season (for the vaguest possible definition of details, certainly) at the San Diego Comic Con.

One tidbit they released is that in the fall Verizon will be hosting Mobisodes (mini episodes) of Lost to keep interest up until the December release of Season 3’s DVD set and the February (that just seems so far away!) debut of Season 4. Hopefully they’ll find their way out to us Lost fans in the rest of the world.

I hope with some extra time between now & season 4 we get some kickass tv in the late winter of 2008 (Oh, Lord, that’s far away). And maybe Damon will get to finish his Ultimate Hulk Vs Wolverine.

Big Love: Margene’s Blog

The character of Margene has a blog over at HBO.com

It seems like Barb doesn’t know what she wants or if she does, I don’t know what it is, and to me it just seems like she’s off the tracks and doesn’t really know how to get back on. For, like, two weeks, she’s been a rat trapped in a bucket…in the back yard swimming laps in the pool three times a day…splashing and kicking and not talking to anyone and holding her breath for a long time and just being totally isolated and silent and pissed. She’s like a ghost, sometimes …actually more like a zombie.

Go here for the rest of the blog entry, and others.

When shows create fake character blogs, it allows the viewers an insight into the character that may not normally be evident on screen.

In Margene’s blog, we get to see the show from her point of view.

Do character blogs enhance the TV show experience for you?

The draft was tonight and essentially resulted in the switching of wrestlers between ECW, RAW, and Smackdown…over the course of the next few weeks I’ll be giving you a bit of a introduction to the superstars.

There was not a lot of storyline advancement except for the launch of a huge angle.

Recently, Vince McMahon had been acting rather strange over the past several weeks and last night it came to an end as his limo exploded as he stepped into it. This is set to launch a big “whodunit” angle over the summer as his character is presumed dead despite the lack of body. It was especially interesting for tonight was Mr.McMahon appreciation night and countless wrestlers trashed him.

Bret Hart made a cameo appearance and I shit my pants, then changed, and then shit them again. Honestly, anytime he is near a television screen I find myself soiled and joyous.

Nothing too much to note, as I’ll have a lot more in the next several weeks in a guide to get caught up to the WWE.

Overall it was a really solid episode and expect the WWE to heat up over the summer as many new story lines are beginning to be launched.

Don’t worry…next week…It’ll get fun
