The Doctor and Martha arrive in New York! And as always adventure and mystery unfold as we learn that they aren’t the only ones who are out of their time. The Time Lord’s old nemesis the Daleks and their Cult of Skaro are here. They have a new terrifying plan that includes the lost souls of Hoover Ville and a rising building on the New York cityscape… The Empire State Building. But wait there’s more! There’s even time for a musical number and a little bit of a Beauty and the Beast story.

A fun ep, even if some of the American accents are decidedly over-the-top, some may even call them downright bad, but I take it all in stride. The VFX are exceptionally good in rendering a 1930s era New York, as are the creature effects, especially taking into consideration that this is just a tv show.

The only thing I didn’t care for was the physical revelation of the Dalek’s plan at the end of the episode that leads into the first cliffhanger of series three.
