So maybe you could care less about the Emmy Awards. Whether you like them or not, it’s great that The Office is being recognized, especially in the important categories. So which Emmys will The Office take home?
I think it will have a tough time defending its Best Comedy Series title. Ugly Betty seems to be the darling this year – I see it as a two-way race, the other nominated series don’t compare.
The Best Actor race is interesting – Steve Carell will be up against Ricky Gervais who got the well-deserved nod for “Extras”. Gervais, of course, created the original The Office in the UK. Alec Baldwin was also nominated for “30 Rock”. He is amazing on that show…but will Emmy voters give the award to a man who calls his teenage daughter a pig? Oink. Oink. I think not. Steve Carell will win.
Of all the nominations, I really hope Rainn Wilson wins for Supporting Actor. The man delivers every week and has created a brilliant character in Dwight. He’s up against Duckie from “Two and a Half Men” and Jeremy Piven from “Entourage”. Piven is strong but I’ll pick Rainn Wilson…I admit it…I’m biased.
Jenna Fischer is terrific as Pam but I don’t she’ll win for Supporting Actress, mostly because as Pam, she really doesn’t get show her stuff. Jaime Pressly, from “My Name is Earl”, does get to show her stuff. Her character is off the charts crazy and Pressly is hilarious in the role. It will either be her or Vanessa Williams from “Ugly Betty”.
Tune in September 16th to see The Office Rainn supreme!
