Several sites are reporting that HBO has greenlit a third season of Big Love. Variety.com gives us some more information:

Net has picked up 12 episodes of the show, in which Bill Paxton and Chloe Sevigny star as members of a polygamous family in Utah. Writing is set to begin next month; lensing is skedded for November.

The renewal, which comes earlier than expected, will ensure the season is completed and ready to air by the time a possible labor stoppage shuts down production in June.

I’m glad to already hear that we’re getting a 3rd season. It seems that they are rushing to complete writing the next season soon to avoid the potential writers’ strike that is looming. Being that this 2nd season was completed prior to the 3rd season go ahead, I wonder what kind of wrap-ups we’ll get this year, and how they’ll branch into next season. Either way, this is great news.
