CBS couldn’t get those expeditions fixed fast enough and have decided to basically pull the plug on Pirate Master. The five final episodes will be available online on Tuesday mornings.
We can’t be too surprised by this move. Whether Pirate Master was completely cancelled or moved to 3 am on Sundays, the ratings were not good enough, and at the very least it was certainly not successful enough to be picked up for a second season.
So what does this mean for us fans of Pirate Master? This says to me that these final episodes are going suck-diddly-uck. They’ll either be totally predicable or someone who everyone hates will win.
Usually realty shows build and build and build, getting better and better and better every week. Clearly that won’t be the case with the final episodes of Pirate Master. I have to believe that ratings aren’t the only factor at this point in the summer. If a show is going somewhere and building towards an entertaining conclusion, then a network will let it play out and hope that this conclusion can save the show. But that won’t be the case here. In about a month Pirate Master and the Picton Castle will set its sails for Davy Jones’ Locker never to be heard from again.
