A press release today, August 15, from the BBC press office gives us our first look at the cast ensemble for Torchwood Series 2, with Captain Jack, and Martha Jones surrounded by the rest of the team.

Russell T Davis says, “Freema is a wonderful actress and we want to give her the chance to add another dimension to Martha. She is going to cause some waves in the team – especially as she joins Torchwood at a point when everything is going to change for one of them.”

I think that’s great that Freema is going to be kept busy with Torchwood before returning to finish out Series 4 of the Doctor. Her character of Martha is completely different from Piper’s Rose and I’m looking forward to seeing how her character grows and changes in the darker and grittier world of Torchwood before she returns to the Doctor’s side.

By why is it so far away!?!?! I’m ready for new Doctor Who and Torchwood NOW!!!!
