It seems David Tennant’s time-traveling self may be appearing opposite the hysterical Ricky Gervais in the 80 minute Extras Christmas Special that will be the final installment of that series. In that series, Ricky portrays a bit part actor, who has innumerable, and brilliantly funny brushes with fame through guest stars playing skewed versions of themselves (Bowie was a hoot!

Patrick Stewart talking about naked people, and Kate Winslet talking about phone sex while dressed as a nun? So funny!) and in the second series he scores himself a horrid sitcom with it’s own catchphrase (”Are you having a laugh?…Is he having a laugh?”). Well much like the original Office, Extras will have only two series and a finish up Christmas special, and it looks like Tennant has signed on!

Whats on TVa Brit online TV listings site carried a quick blurb on it, saying that Tennant may be appearing in the special and it may have something to do with his portrayal of Doctor Who.

“David’s a huge fan of the show and extremely popular, so we’ve signed him up. He’ll be in good company as we’re lining up some other great names.”

I was already getting ready for that special, and that just adds gravy to my mashed potatoes!
