I heard the results of the Canadian Idol seconds after it was announced and felt relieved that my front runner to win this gig took home the big prize. Brian Melo, Hamilton native has been crowned Canadian Idol. Tonight I checked the PVR to see the performances.

This is the second time that I have followed Canadian Idol with any real dedication. This is the second time that someone from the city I live in was in the final two.

-Theresa Sokyrka is from Saskatoon - I lived there when she was in the running (and still have a heaping crush on the girl)

-Brian Melo is from Hamilton (blocks from my house, my kids attend the same Boys and Girls Club he did) - I live there now

This is the second time that I feared the “cuter” face will win out instead of the more talented singer.

Never underestimate the preteen hormonally charged voting populace who wanted Jaydee to win because he was so cute.

I had hoped that Brian Melo wins this thing. The guy is an awesome performer. However it makes me sad that Carly Rae Jepson wasn’t in the top two with Brian, though I doubted she would beat him. I still say Greg Neufelt should have been there. If anyone had a chance of giving Brian a run for his money it was Greg. That guy is made of awesome.

This is easily the best year as far as talent goes. I can honestly see myself buying albums from Carly Rae, Greg and of course Brian Melo. I have only been inspired to buy one other album from an Idol Alumni member, but this year I want 3 of them.
