Ratings for the season premier of Grey’s Anatomy are down from last year.

TV guide writes:

With 24.9 million viewers, CSI outperformed its 2006 opener by 13 percent and in doing so trumped Grey’s Anatomy, which returned to an audience of 20.5 mil (down from last fall’s 25.15 mil). Though Grey’s faired better among the key demos, that is Grissom & Co.’s largest-ever margin of victory over the ABC titan.

I think this shows how the fans are feeling about Grey’s. It is only the first episode. If ratings continue to go down, I think this should be a sign to the execs at ABC to be making some changes.

Have you stopped watching Grey’s? Or do you know anyone that’s not interested anymore?

I still watch the show, but honestly, I watch all of my ABC shows online now. It’s easier, there are fewer commercials, and it opens up those time slots for me to watch other shows, or even have a life (heaven forbid). I’ll bet I’m not the only one doing this.

I have stopped watching the show for the following reasons:

    - Too many characters; The inital cast was good enough, but no, they had to rush in 20,000 more characters after the first season

    - “Gizzie”; Who thought it was a good idea to bring Geroge and Izzie together? Seriously? They were great friends at first…with no sign of dating and then BOOm! They screw and they’re lovers? Um……no. IT is too akward to see these two together, and the fact that we all know TR is gay doesnt help the imagination either. They couldve done so much with George and Callie; this goes to show that you don’t make offerings to stars if you dont have the plot for it (ABC offered Ramirez a job on any show she wanted and she picked GA…don’ you think it disrupted their already made plans?)

    - Callie/Sara’s image; She was supposed to be this young hot curvy thing that exuded confidence, and at first she did, and like all other characters that are in her shoes, she’s lonley and insecure becuase her stupid s/o is cheating on her with a “prettier” skinnier woman. Good job, Grey’s. You just ade 400 girls puke out their lunch and wish they had long blonde hair.

-Acting; every episode is a reminder that Ellen Pompeo cannot act. It annoys me.

    - Not realistic; I hated the whole dream episode where Meredith dreams about Denny and that one girl from the train wreck. The girl was actually my favorite guest character, because I loved her last outlook on life. She was so peaceful, but to see her being a bitch in the afterlife ruined it for me.

    - TR Knight/ Isaiah Washington scandal. I think Grey’s was too PC on the issue and I think both Dempsey and Knight are wusses (not becuase TR is gay, it’s because they both didn’t speak up and tell what happened) and I think Heigl is a fucking whino. This situation was blown out of proportion– maybe not in Hollywood, but for the rest of hobunk America, I don’t think it was THAT big of a deal…at least to the point where he shouldnt have been fired. It’s sad to realize it, but it’s true.

  3. Curious Voice Says:

I stopped watching when they canned Isaiah Washington and did not like the 2 hour intermix of the show and the spin-off.

The characters were starting to get annoying. Meredith is irritating. George and Izzie don’t make sense.

So Isaiah Washington irritated the gay demographic, but skinny izzie doesn’t offend the majority of the population by stealing george away from his wife?

  4. C H A R Says:

    I have stopped watching. C O M P L E T E L Y.

I used to watch Grey’s all the time but now, NO. Most of the good characters are gone and Washington had a very important role. Does anyone remember from Ally Mcbeal how one of the main actors had a drug problem they tried to go around with it until he was not able to function? So why was Washington canned so quickly? One thing you NEVER do is get rid of a main character so suddenly. Kills it.

I loved the mixed couple romance. It was different sweet, sexy, and very catchy and a big reason for the ratings. His character had too much pride in his job to just leave and ruin it. That is why he didn’t say anything about his hand. Why fix his hand and then ruin the show by kicking him off. And not to be racist, but what happened to all the black characters? Why is there… hmmmm… only ONE left?

AND ANOTHER THING! How many times has someone gotten away with the word “N*****” but when someone, especially a black person, says “F*****” it is over. Do I feel that ABC is a bit on the racist side?

AND the Izzie/Geroge thing is a bunch of shit and annoys the hell out of me. Just too random and stupid. How can she cry over one guy and then all of a sudden “I’m in love again?” That sends out the wrong message.

I say rethink the writing and characters. And what is with the other show private practice???

What keeps a show running are old characters. The viewers grow to love them and they grow on the viewers. Never all of a sudden get rid of someone. People only love it when someone who has it coming on the show gets booted. They say, yeah he/she had it coming. In and out revolving doors just will not cut it.

I am sorry but this show is ruined. DONE. At least it got an award. If it makes a come back, it better be GOOD.

I am surprised to see that so many people are dropping the show over Washington, but to accuse the network of making this decision over a racial issue is downright ignorant.

There was a conflict that Washington started. How he backpeddled to save some face after being fired is irrelevant. They made the call to get rid of him over his actions, nothing more. This has nothing to do with him being black.

I agree that the show will suffer for the abrupt end to his storyline, but that was just a byproduct of his sudden firing.
