I hate predicting a winner so early in a race, but there is a lot to like about “Big Bang Theory.” The shows second episode was just as “laugh out loud” hilarious as the first and the ratings, while down from the first week, were still higher than most post premiere week shows. Even the comments on the show after my first article were positive.

Now comes word that Johnny Galecki’s Roseanne co-star Sara Gilbert is set to rejoin her on-screen husband on his new show. From the Hollywood Reporter

Gilbert is set to do a multiepisode arc on the Warner Bros. TV-produced “Big Bang Theory,” which revolves around Leonard (Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons), two socially inept physicists who befriend their new pretty neighbor (Kaley Cuoco). Gilbert will play a love interest for Leonard. She is a fellow physicist who works with him, and the two attempt to date.

Initial reports described this as a one episode guest shot only, but now has morphed into a several episode arc. While there is no way to know, the producer’s have seen something they like and are running with it. Luckily, the show is new and fresh enough to make character changes like shifting Galecki’s characters attentions away from Cuoco’s character in favor of Gilbert’s. I’m all for it if the chemistry works and we don’t get a rehash of David and Darlene. This obviously began as stunt casting and I hope it works. The show has been on fine footing already and probably didn’t need much of a course correction.
