Pushing Daisies Premiers

I don’t know how many of you were counting the days till the premiere of Pushing Daisies, but I was unusually excited. I don’t get normally get excited about TV Shows these days, but there are those few that capture my interest. Usually it’s those shows that look as if they’re going to offer something different; this show offers plenty of different. The first time I saw a promo I was instantly intrigued. Here you have a guy who can touch the dead and bring them back to life, but with this power comes rules. If the dead is alive longer than a minute another life must die and when he touches them a second time they will be dead permanently. So, in order to enjoy this morbid fairytale one must suspend their logical thinking.

The ensemble cast has, in my opinion, a natural chemistry making their unbelievable world believable. While voice over narration can be an unnecessary addition to a story I happen to enjoy the soothing Dr. Seuss-esque narration (delivered by Jim Dale), which adds a layer of insight into a character’s thoughts and feelings as if reading a book.

Colorful and positive in spite of the underlying theme of death I found this first episode delightful. In fact, I found myself smiling throughout the entire episode, especially when the camera focuses on Chuck, who is enchanting. The moments Ned and Chuck share are bitter sweet as they find ways to share an affectionate moment without touching. The fact that they both had their first and only kiss as children is endearing and melts even my cynical heart.

Brian Fuller (Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls) has brought yet another enjoyable TV show, but let’s hope this has the legs to last. I hope it captures a large enough viewing audience because I am ready to love this show.

Did anyone else watch and love it?

  1. Jenny Said,

I loved that show, and have been getting my friends to watch it online at abc.com

  2. Meli Said,

That’s awesome. I watched the show four times before deleting it off my DVR. LoL

Most of my friends were already looking forward to the show and so thankfully I have a few friends who I can gush to about the show.

I hope the momentum will continue …I can’t wait for Wednesday!

  3. K.V.C Said,

An interesting show, but how long will it go really? I think the major plot point, that they can’t touch will get old fast. I hope the actual TV directors can keep the look Sonninfeld(sp) brought to the pilot.

  4. Meli Said,

True there is always that chance, but I have faith in this fairy tale. It’s not often actors/characters have the chemistry Ned and Chuck have.

When those look at it each sparks fly and there is still that childhood innocence of a crush. I love it.
