Big Bang Theory continues to do well in the ratings and I am still waiting for this show to fall flat on its face and prove me wrong about its greatness. It is still one of the few half hours on TV that makes me laugh out loud.

I have written here about the show’s star Johnny Galecki’s roots in the series Roseanne and last week’s appearance by his old cast mate Sara Gilbert. You could have knocked me over this week when another Roseanne star, Laurie Metcalf appeared as Galecki’s roommate’s mother.

And, oh man, was she wonderful. Metcalf played Sheldon’s mother as a bible beating, hard headed southern woman who isn’t quite as pious as she comes across. Metcalf has always shown great range in whatever role she has taken on. In many ways, her role as Jackie on Roseanne never really showed her strengths. Her performance this week on Big Bang Theory has ensured that we’ll see her again as this character.

And this show just keeps getting better and better…
