Actually, the truth is, some people just don't tune into USA. Other channels too. A lot of people have a short list of the channels that they move around too. Myself, I predominantly float between 5 channels. Fox, NBC, USA, Sci-Fi and Comedy Central. And that's just for the shows I have interest in. If there is an excellent show out there that I would enjoy, but it's not on one of those five channels, I won't know about it. As it is, I didn't watch the first seven episode of Pushing Daisies until a few weeks back because I simply didn't know it was a show I would like. I heard it mentioned a couple times, but it wasn't until I saw the show being praised on this site that I thought I would give it a try. So there may be enough people out there that don't tune into USA, but do watch NBC, that it will bring Psych to their attention and encourage them to tune into USA. As another anecdotal reference, when Battlestar Galactica first came out, I was 100% into. I suggested my father check it out because I knew it was right up his alley, but because it was Sci-Fi, and he didn't know which channel was Sci-Fi in his area, he didn't bother to check it out. Then he caught some of the show when NBC was airing it for a short time, and soon after, he went and found out which channel was Sci-Fi. It wasn't until he actually had motivation to find the channel that he actually found it.
