The Daily Show and Colbert Report Return

IGN reports:

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report will resume production on January 7 with both shows returning to air that night without their respective writing staffs. The January 7 return follows a scheduled two-week, end-of-year hiatus that was previously built into the shows’ production calendars. We continue to hold out hope for a swift resolution to the current stalemate that will enable the shows to be complete again.”

This isn’t at all surprising. It wasn’t hard to assume that Stewart and Colbert would follow in the footsteps of the many late night talk show hosts returning to their shows. I’m really glad to see these guys come back. Both shows are absolutely hilarious!

  1. Eaglewing Said,

Can’t wait to see what these guys come up with on their own without a writing team. All the late night shows could break out of the typical if they all start improving their shows. I think guys like Stewart and Conan will probably fare better than Leno, but either way I’d imagine the ratings will be at least half decent regardless of writers. Could wind up delaying settling things even longer.
