Heroes “Villains” Trailer

Tim KringAt the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival this past weekend, Heroes creator Tim Kring debuted a new trailer for the next Heroes volume, Villains.

See the video here.

The most interesting part of the trailer is that Angela Petrelli and Sylar are going to be sharing scenes. With the new dynamics on the show this season, it makes me wonder if they will be working together. Being the third volume is called “Villains”, it makes sense that it will be darker. This season they have blurred the line between “heroes” and “villains”, and I expect them to continue to do that.

It was evident that the makeshift season finale was abruptly created. According to Michael Ausiello at TVGuide.com, parts of the next couple of episodes were filmed prior to the strike, and that if they strike ends in time, they are planning a “proper end to the season”. This would be great, as for me, the last 1/3 of the Heroes finale let me disappointed.

Any predictions for the “proper” finale? How should it end if we only get a muted season?

Entourage Book Now Available

If you just can’t wait for Season 5 of Entourage, there’s something in stores now that might just satisfy your craving. “Entourage: A Lifestyle is a Terrible Thing to Waste” is a great new book that gives fans a behind the scenes look at the hit series, including exclusive interviews with the cast, a guide of the spots around LA where the show has been filmed, never before seen photos, and more.

Here’s the lowdown from The HBO Store:

This book is an all-access guide to the glamorous world of Vince, E, Drama, Turtle, and Ari. Suddenly, almost overnight, the lifestyle that they could only dream about is theirs: luxury cars, mansions, the hottest women, the most exclusive parties, mountains of swag, all for the taking.

In my opinion, this is a must have item for any Entourage fan, and with the holidays just around the corner, the book has come at the perfect time. At the very least, it could provide some holiday party banter as you discuss some of the best quotes from the show with your friends. Will anyone else be hoping this appears under their tree? I’m hoping Santa got my wish list in time!

The Pilot Episode of the Sarah Conner Chronicles Online

CC2K has the entire Pilot episode of Fox’s new Terminator series, which is scheduled to begin airing in January. Take a look, if you’re interested.

When I first heard about this show, I wasn’t entirely eager about it. I mean, taking The Terminator, one of my favorite sci-fi film series, and turning it into a Heroes-like show. The Terminator is amazing, and so is Heroes, but to combine those two? I honestly didn’t think it could work, and after watching this pilot, I must say, I’m still not at all certain about it.

My biggest problem is with the characters. I’m so used to Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner, and I think she filled that character’s shoes so perfect that this Sarah Conner doesn’t feel like the same character. But maybe I’m just being picky. I mean, it seems like it could grow into a really cool show. It’s certainly got the action and potential, and Summer Glau from the Firefly/Serentiy fame, I’m totally into her playing a Terminator!

Survivor Lunch Lady Liar

The Survivor China drama continues from Sunday.  I actually haven’t watched the Survivor China Reunion show yet but I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Denise the Lunch Lady said that she was demoted to a night time custodian at her school because of her being on Survivor. Well, it looks like she’s a lair.

Yahoo! News gives us this:

Denise Martin told viewers on Sunday night’s live finale that she’d been demoted to janitor at a school in Douglas, Mass., after finishing fourth on the show. After hearing her story, Burnett surprised Martin with the money to help get her life back.

On Tuesday, Martin acknowledged on CBS’ “The Early Show” that she’d been promoted to custodian, at her own request, before the competition began.

At this point I have to agree with Courtney from the finale episode and say that Denise “sucks at life”.

Piven @ Williams’ DVD Premiere

My Entourage withdrawal has been slightly sated by some good fall TV programming, but I have to admit, I miss seeing those boys week after week. So I was thrilled to see Jeremy Piven’s face on Entertainment Tonight Online in a clip from the premiere of comedian Katt Williams’ new comedy DVD. Piven is not only in “Katt Williams: American Hustle”, he was asked to introduce it at the Hollywood premiere.

I admit, I did not know much about Katt Williams, but in my opinion, a glowing endorsement from Piven made this comedian worth checking out. I’ve watched the trailer for the DVD, and come to the conclusion that Williams is one of the most likely candidates for an appearance on the next season of Entourage. Do you think Katt Williams should guest on Entourage Season 5? I think his brand of humor would certainly fit right in!

Futurama Comes to Comedy Central

Looks like Futurama will have a new home! Toon Zone gives us this:

Comedy Central will add Futurama repeats to its schedule beginning Wednesday, January 2, at 8:00pm, with a broadcast of two back-to-back episodes, the network announced yesterday. Back-to-back episodes will also air on Thursday and Friday beginning at 8:00pm.

I’m not quite sure what to think. I think Futurama had a more rocksteady place at Adult Swim. When i think about it moving to Comedy Central, all I can picture is it falling into the abyss of forgetten shows like The Critic and Clerks: The Animated Series, which both were handed to CC after being cancelled. Of course, in all fairness, those two shows didn’t last as long as Futurama. This may very well be a good thing. They’re being given a pimetime spot, which could be used if these DVD movies generate enough interest to bring the show back from the dead.

Another island map

Via Strange Maps comes a map of the Lost island.

It is missing a few things (the other island the Hydra station was on, or a location for the Looking Glass) and has some questionable facts (did Sayid really walk that far before finding Rousseau’s base or the cable?) that makes it likely to be a post season two artifact; I also don’t know if it takes into account any of the revelations of season three. I wonder how it compares to the Blast Door Map?

Plus, that island is way too small to contain the awesomeness that will be Zoe Bell’s character.

Leno and O’Brien Go Back To Work

I have to admit I was naive in originally supporting the Writers Guild Strike in a knee jerk reaction to stick it to the man. Then I saw the thousands upon thousands of people who work behind the scenes who are ALSO out of work who are not pulling down the ridiculous salaries we like to pay our celebrities. Behind every star on the walk of fame there are thousands of average joes working paid jobs who put him there.

So now I tip my hat to those very few celebs who want to put on a brave face and show respect to their striking writers (who I also respect and agree with mostly).

CNN reports:

“During the 1988 writers strike, Johnny Carson reluctantly returned to ‘The Tonight Show’ without his writers after two months,” said NBC’s Executive Vice President for Late Night & Primetime Series, Rick Ludwin, in the statement. “Both Jay and Conan have supported their writers during the first two months of this WGA strike and will continue to support them. However, there are hundreds of people who will be able to return to work as a result of Jay’s and Conan’s decision.”

Hundreds of their staff members will be able to put food on their plates, pay their bills and carry on with their lives because these two had the balls to stand up for what is right and return to work. Giving their employees back their jobs.

Not surprising that if someone was crossing that line it would be these two. If I recall correctly, these guys were paying their staff even though they were not required at work.

Hopefully this will spawn others to return to work interim while a deal is being pounded out so that few others in the industry need to suffer the loss.

Another Family Guy Lawsuit

Another month, another lawsuit!

TV.com reports:

Art Metrano, who works as a comedian, actor, and magician, has sued 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane (whose name is misspelled on legal documents (pdf file) acquired by TMZ.com), and collaborators Steve Callaghan and Alex Borstein.

Metrano claims that the act that the animated Jesus performed was in fact his own that he has done before on shows such as The Tonight Show. The comedian is suing for copyright infringement.

Wow! I don’t think any show get sued more often than Family Guy! Whats interesting is that the Jesus joke that caused this recent fiasco is from the direct-to-video Family Guy move that was released two years ago, and while I would have that some people would find th ejoke offensive, and possibly spark a religous outrage, I would have never thought that it would spark another lawsuit. Usually, the creators get lucky and the case gets thrown out of court. Will it happen again? I’m no law expert, but most likely, yes.

Will Arnett is the new K.I.T.T.

TV.com gives us an interesting tidbit on the upcoming Knight Rider TV movie thats in production.

NBC today announced that Will Arnett, who played the popular not-so-adept magician and brother to Jason Bateman in Arrested Development, will be voicing the supercar K.I.T.T. in the network’s telefilm remake of Knight Rider.

I personally find this bit of casting odd. It’s not that I don’t think Arnett will make a K.I.T.T. I’m sure he could pull it off. I just wanted to hear William Daniel’s voice again. I mean, he recently did the voice for The Benchwarmers and in an episode of The Simpsons, a couple years ago. I was almost certian they would have brought him back.

Am I alone in thinking that hearing that familiar British voice again would be cool? Your guys’ thoughts?

The Journey is over for Journeyman

Journeyman seems to be getting the axe,  according to Yahoo News.

NBC had until Tuesday to give a full-season pickup to the time-travel drama starring Kevin McKidd. The network let that option lapse, practically canceling the series, which posted its lowest adults 18-49 rating (1.7 rating/8 share) on Monday without a “Heroes” lead-in

Now while it seems very likely that the show will no’t be coming back,  the show isn’t “officially” cancelled yet, but it seems very likely that it will be, which isn’t a surprise for me. I’ve seen many freshman series come and go. Some I’ve missed. Many I haven’t.

But if you are a Journeyman fan, there may be a chance for you to save it. SaveJourneyman! is doing more than just a simple petition. They will be sending NBC some “letters from the future” attached to Rice-A-Roni packages. Interesting, huh?

Smallville’s Chloe Goes Legit

As the only main character not in original canon, Chloe Sullivan has had her fate tested more than any other character on Smallville. Now, according to Comics Continuum she is getter her place in Superman lore.

Chloe Sullivan, a character created for The CW’s Smallville television series, will be appearing in the DC Universe for the first time next spring. Chloe will be Lois’ cousin in the her DCU version and will likely debut in April’s Superman #675.

Chloe has always been my favorite character on Smallville (though the Chloe/Jimmy stuff is getting old). As a lifelong Superman fan, Chloe is closer to what I always envisioned a young Lana to be than what Smallville’s Lana has become. Allison Mack is also one of the better actors on the show, which adds to my enjoyment of the character. Allison and John Glover (Lionel Luthor) have consistently been the strong performers and elevate the enjoyment of any episode.

I for one am glad that Chloe has received her long deserved place in DC history. Am I off base? Should she have been left in the Smallville universe?

Survivor Finale Night

There may not actually be a more satisfying night of TV than the Survivor Finale night. This year did not let down one bit.

Greeting Survivor Fanatics!! What a perfect night for TheTVShowBlog 2.0 to begin.

This year may not have been quite as rowdy and controversial as some of the others but nonetheless there are not many other nights of TV that stack up to this one.

Todd, Denise, Courtney, and Amanda enter the night but only one would be the Ultimate Sole Super Duper Survivor. Who do you think deserved it?

Mad Men & Pushing Daisies on AFI Top Ten

AFI has published it’s Top Ten movies and television shows for 2007. Among the usual suspects of HBO’s “The Sopranos” are two new shows - ABC’s Pushing Daisies and AMC’s Mad Men.Personally, I loved Mad Men at the first episode. The design of the show was impeccable, the dialogue was crisp without seeming stagy and the world that was created was one that I look forward to exploring for years to come.

    To quote AFI directly:

Each year, AFI AWARDS honors excellence in the moving image arts within the context of a Year in Review. This is the next chapter in AFI’s national mandate — specifically, the creation of an annual almanac that records and preserves the evolution of the moving image arts in the 21st century.

However, it’s interesting to see Mad Men appear on the list. It wasn’t from a big network, didn’t have a huge marketing push and it’s been off the radar for a while since the First Season ended on October 18, 2007 - three strikes that would keep a lesser series off the list.

I’m happy to see it on the list - just surprised. Can you guys think of any shows that were slighted? Or shows that are on the list but don’t necessary fit the quoted mission of the AFI Top Ten?

Who Is NCIS’s DiNozzo?

Welcome back to the new and improved TVShowBlog! Let’s get this party started!

Except for Mark Harmon, the cast of NCIS kept relatively quiet about the behind the scene shake-up during the off season. Now in an interview with TV GUIDE cast member Michael Weatherly finally breaks his silence on the subject…and tells us nothing.

TV Guide quotes DiNozzo:

I stay largely outside the politics of the show. I learned two lessons on another show [Dark Angel, in which he costarred with — and became engaged to — Jessica Alba]: The less I say the better, and don’t date your costar! So Mark Harmon and I have never dated. Though the Silver Fox and I did spend a week in Vermont that nobody knows about.

Jessica Alba!?! Anthony DiNozzo was once engaged to Jessica Alba? OMYGOD! Anyway, Weatherly then discusses the man who inspired him to become an actor:

I saw every Tom Hanks movie on opening day — which is how I came to Joe Versus the Volcano. That was the catalyst [to become an actor]. My girlfriend Betsy thought I was a lunatic to move to New York. And clearly Betsy was on the money.

Clearly, the line between where character Anthony DiNozzo ends and actor Michael Weatherly begins is a verrry fine one. NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8pm on CBS.

WordPress Cookies Fix.

Oh look, a new post!

Typically the transition to Wordpress is an easy one. This is the consensus from everyone I know who uses it as their blogging tool of choice.

Not for me.

I don’t know why it was so crunchy. John walked me through it at the MovieBlog Studios and everything looked great. I couldn’t wait to get into it. But then things just didn’t work right afterwards. I finally got it sorted out. Thanks Dawn!

If you are having trouble with your login file, download a patched one here. It worked for me.

So by this weekend we should be back on the ball. The site is painfully close to not being in Beta anymore. I can hardly wait.

For those Writers who have asked to be kept on, please keep an eye on your inbox for when and how to post.
