A while back we learned of a series across the pond on BBC that featured popstar turned actress Billie Piper taking on a roll of a high class hooker. Secret Diary of a Call Girl features Piper recollecting the events in a diary of Belle de Jour.
The station, (Showtime) also home to controversial shows such as lesbian drama The L Word and Dexter, plans to start running the first series in the Spring.Rival channel HBO, home of The Sopranos, had also expressed an interest in the securing the show.
The series was greeted with strong reviews in the UK and now that Showcase is picking this up, HBO is also considering getting their hands on it.
Piper will already be a familiar face to the fans of Dr Who which is already airing on US stations.
