As I posted last week, “Sanctuary” has been picked up for a full season for the SciFi Channel. This of course leads to less Samantha Carter, but as Slice of SciFi reports, there are more changes coming:

There will be an addition to the Atlantis SG Team named Captain Alison Parker. She is military, tough and ready for action, but frustrated over Colonel Carter’s slowness in making her a permanent part of the team. That will change quickly after the first episode.

There is mention of changes for Teyla (pregnancy), and more Connor Trinnear and Kari Wuhrer. Trinnear and Wuhrer are great actors and fit perfectly in the genre. Kari Wuhrer only had a small role in this last episode, but her role definitely has potential for expansion.

They’ve also really underused Carter this season. Such a big deal was made about her addition to the cast, but Sheppard is basically in charge most episodes. The sooner they make changes to better explain her absense the better.

Atlantis started out slow in the first season, but has gradually stepped out of the shadow of SG-1. If you haven’t watched it in awhile, I recommend giving it another shot.
