“The New Adventures of Old Christine” is the first post-Seinfeld television success for a star from the legendary series. The new season begins tonight at 9:30PM ET. Christine does not deserve the way CBS treats it. Being brought in like a mid-season replacement is no way to treat this award winning series.

Yes, it is a sitcom, and as such it does delve into old sitcom standards. But Christine is much more, and mainly on the strengths of the cast. Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays “old” Christine as if Elaine (Seinfeld) moved to LA, got married, had a kid, and got divorced. Her comic timing is extraordinary and highlights even the not so good shows. Also, her brother, her ex-husband, and “new”-Christine, round out the show and are also very funny and entertaining.

Playing her best friend, Barb, Wanda Sykes is hilarious as always. She started out light on the show in the first season, but has become progressively more involved in each episode. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
