Only a few weeks before the debut, Will Arnett has been replaced as the voice of K.I.T.T. in the upcoming Knight Rider TV Movie/Pilot. Knight Rider Online has the original announcement:
I mentioned last week there would be an announcement, well here it is, and only on KRO.
Will Arnett has had to back out of voicing KITT because of a contractual conflict. This happened a few weeks ago.
I was asked not to release this information until they figured out what they were going to do. Finally, as of last night, contracts with the replacement have been signed.
The new voice of KITT will be…Val Kilmer. He’s a bona-fide movie star who has not done a lot of television, a very smart guy with and great voice and a lot of range, and the producers are very happy with the choice. They start today to re-voice the movie.
This may work well for the show having a big name, and recognizable voice like Kilmer’s involved. I really have hope for this show, and this news though disappointing at this late in the game, is encouraging. But you’d think that Arnett would have settled the GM/Ford conflict a long time ago.

This is fantastic news! Val is a super actor, super voice and a great guy! I’m glad to hear that he was chosen as the replacement for the contractually obligated Will Arnett.
In Joy!

I am so glad Val will be the new voice of KITT! Val is one of my favourite actors, and as far as his voice goes, if you guys think it’s sexy as his speaking voice, then you ought to hear Val SING if you haven’t already! He’s amazing! I have both his demo CD and his DVD of “Ten Commandments: The Musical” and Val should have been a recording artist years ago! His movies are wonderful, but his singing is truly divine.
I wonder if KITT will sing…
Cheers, Michael

It will be wonderful to hear Val’s voiceagain on “Knight Rider!”
Iam sofond of him for the charities heis so involved in.
I saw him, after he saw me and was staring at me, from the rearview mirror of the Crew Cab with Lariots on bedsides. He smiled into the mirror, full faced, so I could see that he noticed me.
It was truly the “Enchanted Moment” in my life.
I was too stunned to speak. He slowly, still smiling, drove out of my life. I have been kickin’myself for notsaying “Hi,Val,” when I had that one chance.
It is a shame that it is impossible to e-mail actors or somehow let them know that you adored seeinghim. I want somuch to meet him.
Val(Personal Note:) Support The American Quarter Horse Association’s battle against unlawful breeding of HYPP (”Impressive Syndrome”) Disease.
I was physically disabled with severe injuries from Spousal Abuse,so appreciate Val’s fight against Domestic Violence.
