Joss Whedon’s new drama, Dollhouse (starring Eliza Dushku) is moving forward a full steam. He’s recently hired the newly unemployed creators of “Women’s Murder Club”. The TV Barn has the story:
I knew it wouldn’t take long for Sarah Fain and Liz Craft, the Pembroke Hill grads who created “Women’s Murder Club” for ABC, to find new employment inside the sprawling Twentieth TV complex. Craft and Fain, who have a long-term deal with Fox, were told that James Patterson and ABC were done with them on Monday. On Tuesday Fox offered them a project. On Wednesday Joss Whedon called.
Any news on the progress of Dollhouse is good news. Even though Fox has a history of screwing up Whedon shows, I have high hopes for this one. I missed “Woman’s Murder Club”, so I’m not sure how the quality or style compares to usual Whedon-verse shows. Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I have liked watching Woman’s Murder Club but it is a very different style compared to usual Whdeon shows. It’s much more Law & Order with oftn times cliched relationships between the characters. but still fun and funny.
I watched a few WMC episodes. The show was well produced and had a good look, but the whole premise seemed a bit too cookie-cutter predictable. If Josh writes a good show, these people should be able to execute it well.
The one thing that concerns me is that the Dollhouse reminds me a bit of the human Cylons on BSG or the Terminators from Sarah Connor. True, the dolls are real humans, but the setup sounds a bit like programmed robots. Will the TV audience go for a third show with similar ideas?
