ABC had promoted that we’d know the answer to the Oceanic Six mystery by the end of last weeks episode. Several “Lost” fan site were reporting Jin as one of the six, but after last week, it appears they were wrong (according to the tombstone, he died on the plane). TVGuide’s Ausiello has this to say:
Who said Aaron is not one of the Oceanic Six? Certainly not me. … In the meantime, don’t expect a definitive answer about the Six from Team Darlton. Carlton Cuse tells me they’re “not going public with any further clarifications right now.” And what of the ABC promo that promised viewers they’d know the identity of the Six by the end of last week’s episode? “We don’t determine how ABC promotes the show,” says Cuse. “But Damon and I will say you have now seen all of the Oceanic Six in this season’s episodes.”
In the past, the producers have (politely) chided ABC for the “Lost” promotions. I wonder if we have yet to see the sixth member in a flash forward, and ABC jumped the gun assuming Jin was the one (reports are the early version of the episode did not contain the tombstone scene). Did Ben pretend to be on the plane? Is Michael one of the six? Or is it Aaron?

Uh…. Its pretty simple. Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, & Aaron. 1,2,3,4,5…6
Yep, there is six of them.
I am not even going to try to justify that Aaron is one of them. He is human, he survived, he is one of the Oceanic 6.

I don’t believe Aaron is the 6th survivor. I think he would of had to be born before the crash. I think Jin maybe the sixth survivor, just because there was a grave marker doesn’t mean he was killed. This show has does wierd and impossible things soi I think it is Jin.
Remember, the “Oceanic Six” are a famous group named by the media, and therefore if Jin is listed as dying on 22 Sept 04, the official story is that he died in the “crash”. He may still be alive on the island for all we know, but not one of the six.
The problem with Aaron being the sixth is that Kate would never be allowed to keep Claire’s baby, therefore, all five of them would have to have pretended that the baby was hers (which is possible). That is the only reason I question it.
I disagree with Jason-
The ‘Oceanic’ six are exactly that- From the oceanic flight. Aaron was born after the crash so he does not count. I actually do not think Sayid counts either since I believe him to be ’smuggled’ off the island by Ben Linus.
The six are:
Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, and then two others that have not been specified yet. My vote for the last two is one of the following: Sawyer, Juliet, or Desmond.
Juliet and Desmond can not be part of the six. They were not on the flight. I am going to say it is Jack, kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, And Micheal.
New theory: this is not the Aaron we are made to believe he is. The kid we see is about 2 years old, meaning since they left the island at last one year must have passed. Sun, however, just gives birth, so her episode plays within ca. half a year of them leaving island. Stupid children casting, or meaningful time indication?
[…] of LOST. We were told we would know the answer by now and some feel that we have been told. But do we really know who the Oceanic Six are? I don’t believe we’ve gotten all of the answers yet. Of course, I also don’t […]
The commercial for a new lost on april 24 flashes Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Sayid, and Aaron as the six survivors. I think their will be actually be more taken off the island in different ways.(Jin and walt)
It is hard being right all the time.
Seriously though, I think that a couple things are happening here. The LOST producers (whom I know personally) have been plagued with complaints for the last three seasons about setting up questions for which they don’t answer. I think now they decided, with two seasons left, that they need to pay off questions that they create. So they did. They set up the Oceanic 6 and told us who they were. Could it be that there is a level of denial here, simply cause we got the answer? Also, just cause we know who they are doesn’t mean we know everything. There is a lot of mystery surrounding why only 6 got off the island. Why they feel so bad, why Jack wants to go back. All these things are more important than just who they are.
