Mercury Girl Jill Wagner was just announced as host of a new reality show, along with John Anderson of ESPN’s “SportsCenter”. Variety has more:

ABC is teaming with Endemol USA and “Fear Factor” showrunner Matt Kunitz to produce “Wipe Out,” a reality competition designed to produce what the network hopes will be “the most crashes, face plants, impacts and wipeouts ever seen on television.”

Developed and exec produced by Kunitz, “Wipe Out” will feature 24 contestants trying to make their way through increasingly tough obstacle courses. “But the courses are designed to make people crash and burn,” Goldberg said, explaining that there will be wipeouts “from the minute the show starts.”

I was a fan of “Fear Factor” in the first 2 seasons, but then it grew old and tiring. Maybe the added twist of designing the game for contestants to fail will revitalize the theme.

Jill Wagner was the highlight of the short lived Blade TV series, and has been excellent on “Stargate: Atlantis” as Larrin (as well as a frequent commenter on her IMDB board). I’ll give this one a chance because of my fondness for Jill and once fondness of “Fear Factor”. What do you think?
