When SciFi Channel announced “Flash Gordon” I was both hopeful and worried. Re-imagining stories that last existed as camp has about a 50/50 shot at succeeding. SliceOfSciFi has an article discussing this not yet officially cancelled series.

SCI FI Channel president David Howe told trade publication Variety back on March 21 that the network didn’t treat the character of “Flash Gordon” the way he should’ve been treated, and the network may try to do it again sometime … just not right now,”…. which reading between the lines means that “Flash Gordon” is no longer on the schedule.

The character of Flash Gordon has had many incarnations over the last 70 years, but none really resembled what SciFi gave us. There is still allot of potential in the show. The character of Baylin [right] is very interesting and should be explored more. Also, the recasting of Aura and/or Dale with a stronger actress would improve the series.

The SciFi Channel has cancelled better shows, and kept worse ones. What will be the fate of Flash? What should be the fate?
