“Torchwood” bridges seasons with radio drama

“Torchwood” has been having a strong second season, though have yet to beat last seasons “Countrycide“. For between seasons, they are planning a radio drama on BBC Radio 4. IO9 has:

In the 45 minute episode, to be broadcast in Radio 4’s traditional “Afternoon Play” slot, the Torchwood team - portrayed by their television cast - will deal with a mission revolving around a particle accelerator. Why a particle accelerator, you ask? Well, because the episode will be transmitted on the same day as the opening of the world’s biggest particle accelerator in Switzerland, and if nothing else, Radio 4 likes to keep up with what’s happening in the world.

I really enjoy “Torchwood” and have been worried about the rumored “revamped” third season. As I’ve mentioned before, I worry when a show I love decides to change things. The worry is that they’ll change what you liked about the show in the first place, in an attempt to broaden the audience.

Toning down “Torchwood” may make it too much like “Doctor Who”. Yes it’ll be more accessible, but less original. Hopefully we’ll get a strong Who-verse lineup this year with “Sarah Jane”, “Doctor Who” and “Torchwood”.
