With the early pickup, executive producer Brian Peterson gives SciFi Wire some insights into what is in store for next season.
Peterson was willing to share a few spoilers about the next season. “The things I think I can hint at are the Lois and Clark of it all,” he said, referring to the 1990s Superman-themed series that ran on ABC. “It’s really going to be a season about Lois [Erica Durance] and Clark [Tom Welling].”
Peterson added that Clark will be facing “his own personal D-Day, and let people figure out what perhaps that means. And then I would say if people think Lex [Michael Rosenbaum] has issues now, wait until you meet his new sidekick. … So those are the very preliminary brush strokes that we probably need to get into in the next few weeks.”
Even though it messes with feelings on Superman mythos, I’m glad that there is going to be more Lois, because it solidifies the less Lana rumors. I don’t consider Smallville to be Superman, so it’s a welcome change.
It seems that the lack of Rosenbaum (Lex) is going to be filled by a “sidekick”. I was hoping that a completely new villain would emerge, but I guess Lex will remain the big-bad, with his minion doing his bidding.
I like these kind of shakeups, and I hope Season 8 is the best season yet.

If they actually start focusing in on Clark (you know, that guy who is the supposed star of the show? Where’s he been lately?) and Lois, season 8 has the potential to be the best yet.

I think it’ll be really good if they focus more on Lois and Clark because Lana is driving me mad and her and Clark together equal dull. Lois and Clark have this love/hate relationship which makes me laugh.
