After the announcement by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar that they’d be leaving “Smallville”, there has been a lot of speculation to why. The CW has made a statement regarding the departure and The Hollywood Reporter has the news.
Co-cxecutive producers Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson have been upped to executive producers and will serve as showrunners on the show’s upcoming eighth season on CW.
“Al Gough and Miles Millar have been great partners and instrumental in the development and success of ‘Smallville,’” CW and “Smallville” producer Warner Bros. TV said in a joint statement. “Todd, Darren, Kelly, and Brian have been writing for the show for the past six seasons, and as producers for the last four years, they have played an integral role in the ongoing creative evolution of the series. As showrunners, they will continue to deliver the compelling storytelling that “Smallville” fans have come to expect and love.”
After all of the speculation and the two statements, I’m guessing that neither side was happy with eachother. The CW doesn’t like Gough/Millar either because of the crap they were producing, or that they were fighting the crap that Slavkin/Swimmer was producing. I hope it is the former.
At this point is is stupid that Clark hasn’t learned to fly. The excuses they come up with in the show are eye-rollingly cheesy. Now with Gough gone, maybe he can finally get off the ground.

I don’t have dvr so i don’t catch the show as much as i would like, if you have a chance please give a reason(s) as to why Clark cant fly yet, a “cheesy” excuse though it may be.
One specifically was last week. Kara was going to show him how to do it, and he was too scared to look like a fool.
Yeah, Clark’s excuses have become annoying. His “fear” of heights is ridiculous. Plus, he doesn’t have enough faith in himself at this point to believe he actually can fly! I wish the new producers luck, hopefully Smallville will become the great show it once was again.
I don’t understand why they keep saying he is afraid of heights and thats why he won’t learn to fly. How can you have fear of heights if you know darn well you can’t get hurt?
Several years ago (around the first season) me and my friends renamed this show into “Suckville” because it sucked big time!!
And yes, one of the bad things is that Clark doesn’t fly yet! In the Superman movie he learns it when he’s younger than Clark in Suckville is.
