We already know that big changes are coming to “Stargate - Atlantis” next season. Now comes news of a sci-fi veteran’s addition to the cast. GateWorld has:

Actress Nicole de Boer has been cast in an upcoming episode of Stargate Atlantis, executive producer Joseph Mallozzi told readers of his blog. de Boer will play Dr. Alison Porter in “Whispers,” expected to air as the seventh episode of Season Five.

I’ve always enjoyed de Boer in both DS9 and “The Dead Zone”. She should fit well into Atlantis and will give the cast the female boost it needs. Amanda Tapping should have provided strong female leadership to the cast, but failed to do so (although it wasn’t her fault).

Also in the article is an indication of an “all-woman Atlantis recon team” with the list of other team members.

This news and the addition of Woolsey has me excited about next season. How about you?
