More of less, yes. This is just a test post put in place to set up the site.

Hi I was just wondering since both The Movie Blog and now The TV Show Blog look similar, what you used to create the website? Is it just custom html or is there a website you use to psot and for the templates etc.?
Posted by: Ross at March 28, 2007 14:10
Hi there Ross,
The Movie Blog design was done by a designer for us. We specifically asked that The TV Show Blog design look almost identical so the relationship between the 2 sites would be obvious.
Hope that helps.

So it isn't a website you use, like www.blogger.com, www.blog.co.uk etc. It's just done on a computer (custom)? I was just looking for a good blog website that you are able to name the pages and catagories. I can only find one's which show the posts that were posted on a certain day, there is no page titles you can enter.
Anyway appreciate your help.
Cheers,
Ross

Hi Ross. We used Movable Type (www.movabletype.org) to run both this site and TMB. It's a CMS like Blogger which is installed on your domain and gives you more power over configuration and blog customization.

Okay thanks I will try that.

And Ross... if you're looking for a designer... PIA is amazing

[QUOTE by Andrew Jones] What is this? Latin? [END QUOTE]
Lorem ipsum is a common filler when ever you have a web design and you need to put some text in the page. I remember a good old Dreamweaver extension that did just that.
By the way I love the retained design from The Movie Blog. Keep on the good work!

John,
Great idea, in fact all week I wanted to see you put up a post about Battlestar Galactica. I got hooked at the beginning of this season based on your recommendation. I thought the season finale was as cool as the season opener. My wife does not watch the show so I have been needing to share how awesome it was with someone. Oh well, maybe next season.
By the way, speaking of awesome, I saw you put up another top ten list today. I may have an Idea, a couple of weeks ago I saw 300 and you already know how good it is, but I was at dinner with a group of friends and no one had seen it yet. I was trying to explain it to them and said, “It may be the most awesome movie I have ever seen.” Now I said Awesome, not greatest, or best, or coolest. What do you think? Is 300 the most awesome movie ever? If not what is, and is “most awesome” even a legitimate category? What would be your top ten most awesome movies ever?

With all that Latin, I felt like the power of Christ was compelling me.
Sorry Catholic people :)
Other than that, I look forward to the future of thetvshowblog.com

John,
Congratulations on the new site. It looks just as good as the original.
Hey, how about blogging The Sheild, one kick-ass TV show and Criminal Minds, another hell of a good way to spend an hour in front of "the tube"?

Hey John et al. congrats on the new blog. Can I make 2 suggestions for this site and it would probably work for TMB too..
1) On my site I use several WordPress plugins and one of them allows commenters to subscribe to comments via email. That way when someone posts a new comment, my readers who have subscribed to this feature get an email saying that they need to check out the post's link to read the new comments. It makes it easier for folks to follow along... just a thought...
2) Another WordPress comment plugin idea - (I saw that you use MT, not familiar with its capabilities but I'm sure something similar exists for MT...) Whenever someone starts typing in the comment box on my site's posts, they see a live preview of what their comment will look like. It's a nice visual as links, bold, blockquotes, etc. can be seen by the commenter.
Good luck with the new site. You and Doug and the rest of TMB are doing a great job.
Cheers!
PS: How many pokes are you guys getting on Facebook? I bet you're feeling violated ;-)

The post stated: "Vivamus a massa. Curabitur eu quam. In interdum quam. Phasellus felis. Integer purus. Vivamus vitae quam quis risus tempus consectetuer. Proin volutpat ante eu metus. Nullam placerat est in massa."

What I's like to see:
1)**** TV films/miniseries on Sci-Fi, Lifetime, Bravo, AMC etc. This I think could serve up close to a wide range in genre much like tMB.
2) CSI [including spinoff shows]
3) Law & Order [and spinoffs]
4) Dresden Files
5) Shark (I am a regular watcher)
6) The Actor's Studio

Sopranoes and The Shield. Both totally amazing shows that I'm constantly chatting to my mates about. Plus they're about to start again.
