The Final Five Cylons

Category: Battlestar Galactica

As far as strange theories for TV Shows go, I sometimes have some strange ones. I am often wrong, and though I think my ideas are better, sometimes I wonder if some top dog writer for one of my favourite series reads what I wrote and changes it so I can't say I am right.

One day I will say something, and someone will pay me for my efforts.

But anyways, John reflected on the Season 3 Finale of Battlestar Galactica, and I thought I would chime in with my thoughts on the matter.

I don't think that the 4 who heard the strange music are Cylons. Many of the reasons John gave as thoughts on how characters who predate the Cylon invention of skinjobs are valid and plausible. I just don't think they are. I think in true cliffhanger form, we are lead to believe they are. Why only these four could hear the music is beyond me. Something we will have to wait a year to find out I guess.

Starbuck's return makes me think we are to believe she too is a Cylon, and I really can't come up with a reason to think she hasn't been reborn except that in her miraculous return, her dated Viper seemed to also return from the grave. I think that it is possible that the ghost Raider that Starbuck was hunting may have collided with her on the hard deck, leading Apollo to think she blew up. But that is a stretch. Maybe I just can't deal with Starbuck being a Cylon, though perhaps in her "programming" she was intended to cause strife among the humans on a smaller scale to generate a spiraling social chaos.

My theory however revolves around the "Final Five". I believe (and may be wrong) that the final five are NOT going to turn out to be Starbuck and the Musical 4.

I think the Final Five are going to turn out to be the GODS OF KOBAL! These are loosely based on the Greek Gods Zeus, Hera, Athena, Ares and Apollo. Hmmm.. 5 of them huh?

I mean what better mindfart would this cause?? They will be the original figures who wrote the Sacred Scroll (why else would the Final Five appear to those who stood in the Temple of the Eye of Jupiter - A Human temple?)

And what a double cross this would be to the Cylon's theology, who worship a pseudo Christian God, to have the Final Five turn out to be the Gods of Kobol. Perhaps this is why they don't talk about them and to even suggest a discussion about them is met with agitated hushes.

I like to get these things online so that one day if my theories turn out to be right, I can say HA! and gloat like a kid on the playground who just won at kickball.

I had a theory that ObiWan Kenobi would die in Revenge of the Sith, and that the ObiWan we meet in A New Hope was a clone. Yeah, I was wrong about it, but it made sense.

Time will tell if I am wrong about this idea too.

I likewise held out hope that the four who heard the music were not Cylons and that, perhaps, there was another explanation for the music.

However, within a week of the season finale airing, I was already seeing quotes and interviews with Ron Moore online in which he clearly confirmed that the four are Cylons. Unless he's using outright dishonesty as a misdirection tactic, well, they really are Cylons.

At least we still have the mystery of who the fifth of the final five is (even if Kara downloaded, where'd she get the new Viper?). Then, there's also the theory I've seen floating around the net, that all "humans" in the fleet are really Cylons and the 12 models, so often referred to, are just special models.

Listen to Ron Moore's podcast, the 4 are Cylons. Cylons of a different type though.

Hey Rodney,

I was holding out hope they were not Cylons as well, but its looking more and mroe like we're wrong. My theory was a bit of a stretch.

I was reading the other day that when you get a buzzing or extended "beep" in your ear, its actually you going deaf, slowly, and that when the "beeping" stops it will be the last time you can hear that pitch, EVER AGAIN.

Well, when they were trying to find radio stations in the bar, and they caught part of that Hendrix song, obviously from earth, I thought maybe it was a pitch that their ears had never before encountered, thereby making them the only ones that can hear it.

But I was obviously wrong and must admit it, I mean, I got the impression that something in their minds "clicked" and they became self aware, no getting around that part.

hey guys, well i've only just completed watching bsg season 3 now. i had to download them since it doesn't air over here and the dvds aren't out here yet! but nevertheless, i too was kinda let down by the second half of season 3, it felt like they where kinda rushing things a little with every storyline!!

now, my theory on the final five:

i think that the final five were built by the 13th tribe as a defense mechanism to prevent the other 12 colonies to find earth!!!

think with me here, the 13th tribe left since they didn't want anything to do with the other 12 colonies, right? so it would be in their interest to make sure nobody knows where they are!!

this is the reason, why the final 5 are only activated when the fleet is getting very close to earth and hear the jimi hendrix song! this is their cue to begin their undercover assignment to divert the fleet from the path to earth!

maybe my theory is undermined by the fact that the 13th tribe apperently left some beacons and markers behind, but hey, it might just be true!! you never know!

Interesting theory there Bert,

But remember, the scriptures guide the way to earth and the 13th tribe left markers along the way. If they were trying to separate themselves permanently, don't you think they would have hidden those things?

yeah, i thought of that too while i was typing it!!

but maybe...
