Big Love: Margene's Blog

Category: Big Love

The character of Margene has a blog over at HBO.com

It seems like Barb doesn't know what she wants or if she does, I don't know what it is, and to me it just seems like she's off the tracks and doesn't really know how to get back on. For, like, two weeks, she's been a rat trapped in a bucket...in the back yard swimming laps in the pool three times a day...splashing and kicking and not talking to anyone and holding her breath for a long time and just being totally isolated and silent and pissed. She's like a ghost, sometimes ...actually more like a zombie.
Go here for the rest of the blog entry, and others.

When shows create fake character blogs, it allows the viewers an insight into the character that may not normally be evident on screen.

In Margene's blog, we get to see the show from her point of view.

Do character blogs enhance the TV show experience for you?

I like how in the responses on her blog, some commenters act like they are living in Margene's world of Big Love and respond to her in character while others leave comments that they hope the actress herself is reading.

Oh I love this show. Margene is my favourite wife.

I love Margie, but for me, Nicki is my favorite wife. She is so complex, you really never know how she is going to react...what side of the fence she is going to be on.

I'd be great if Nicki had a blog, but that would be out of character. She's probably never used a computer.

Even though some character blogs are written by the actual actor (i.e. Jenna Fischer writes Pam's blog from The Office), from what I've been able to find, Ginnifer doesn't write Margene's.

I love character blogs, Hiro's on the Heroes website is a favorite!

I remember when Will and Grace fist came on the air, they had a Justjack.com blog for Jacks character. It was hilarious. But with these, I think they've gone beyond just using it as a publicity type thing, to build buzz, to using it as an actual tool, to enhance the story they're telling.

Oops, I left the 'r' out of first.
