Chris Benoit - RIP

Category: News

Its 634 PM on Monday Night, and I am sitting here....fighting back tears as I try to come up with words. Tonight was supposed to be the 3 hr RAW spectacular and Vengeance fallout, but thats no longer the case because Chris Benoit was found dead tonight

WWE.com reports

World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.

Tonight's Raw on USA Network will serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family. WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.

There will be no reports from me this week. I will write later this week and get my feelings out there, but for now. There is nothing to say.....This is the just fucking tragic.

I commend you for bringing this shocking news to us today Ben.

However, I am thinking back on your last post when you reported on the ongoing "Vince McMahon Murder" storyline. One of the comments posted to that article mentioned how former diva Sensational Sherri passed away and the fake death of McMahon got more air time.

Will they wrap up the murder storyline really quick to get it over with in light of this unexpected event??

Vince opened up tonights show out of character so It looks like the angle is going to be dropped

I just... wow... what a loss. He was such a first rate guy. I've watched him since I was a kid. What a tragedy.

WOW! F*cking tragic. I didn't hear anything about it on the news though, so I'm wondering if it's real (not a WWE storyline). I'm also really shocked that our resident WWE writer would take a week off, instead of updating his fans. I'm not saying that he shouldn't have time to mourn, but really, unless you are closely related/tied to Benoit, how's this affect you so much? (Might be inconsiderate of me to say, but it's an opinion).

to be completly honest....I cant really report on shows this week and my faith has been shaken as a fan

WHy I take the time off?, Chris Benoit represtened to me everything that was great about professional wrestling. I loved his intensity and style and everything about him. He was the man who I loved to watch. I thought he was the best wrestler in the world

Then, he dies.....and I guess the word is, he killed his family and himself. Its the news making rounds and its speculation but......

Your hero....who you saw as the greatest thing he did, who made you wanna do that

Kills a woman and a six year old child

It'd fuck with your head too

I pray it isnt true

I pray

This is truly sad news. I'm not a wrestling fan, but my other half is, and when he told me the news earlier today, I felt nauseous. Such tragedies in the wrestling world keep happening, but this is by far the most tragic.

I should say that all reports are speculation and Ill examine this more in depth tomorrow

When I feel its the right time, I'll offer up my thoughts on Chris and Woman, his wife and former wrestler herself

That post was mine, Sensational Sherri may not have had a lot to do with wwe, I dont know, but i do know that she was a part of it. When she died they showed her picture for like 5 seconds, and i was waiting on a memeorial video on some of her greatest accomplishments...but they didnt, seriously 5 seconds later they went back to a wrestler or diva talking about Vince's "Fake Death". i found that very disrespectful and just wrong. Anyways last night, I was sitting at home getting ready to watch RAW, when i saw the black screen with Chris Benoit pic and 1967 - 2007 below. My heart just dropped, Chris Benoit was with out a doubt one of the best. What i loved about Benoit is the fact that he loved his fans so much and love his job. And like Micheal Cole said last night, "it didnt matter if Chris Benoit won or lost, he would get up, look at the crowd...then they would start chantting his name, win or lose they still chantted his name"........I deeply am going to miss that. The wrestling world is going to miss you Chris Benoit, my prayers go out to his friends and family.

Hey Ben

When I heard the news today at work, I actually wanted to jump on and apologize for what I wrote. I just had this suspicion that it was BS. Sorry man.

It really does suck, though, to hear that Benoit might actually have taken the lives of two others before taking his own. I can't even fathom what must've been going through his head. And we'll probably never really know that truth.
