After being fired last week, Isaiah Washington seems to not want the controversy to die. In an exclusive interview to Ausiello at the TV Guide, Washington’s spokesperson, Howard Bragman, reveals that Washington is considering legal action.
Bragman says in the interview at TV Guide "If they wanted to fire him," Bragman asks, "Why didn't they fire him when [the incident] happened? Why did they say, 'Here's what you need to do if you want to come back… ' and then, when he did everything that was asked of him, he still gets fired. Why do you treat somebody like that?"
"If you made a mistake, you acknowledged the mistake, you went into counseling, you met with the groups, you did the PSA, you did everything that was asked of you, and then they still kick you in the gut? How would you feel?â€Washington and his publicist have a point. ABC made him do all these things to help his image and then goes on to fire him. It’s pretty obvious that they kept him around because of the storyline and it would’ve been awkward to fire him midseason. ABC did act fairly poorly in this regard, but let’s not forget this is coming from a man who grabbed a fellow castmember, Patrick Dempsey by the throat. Washington needs to let the controversy die or he will never find any more work in Hollywood.
Do you think that ABC was wrong in leading Washington on or that they should have let him go midseason? Who’s side are you on?

I like the response from a "Grey's Insider".
"Apparently, Isaiah missed the point that he should have been apologizing and working on his anger issues because it's the right thing to do," whispers a Grey's insider. "It wasn't just supposed to be an empty exercise he went through for the sake of appearances."

Honestly? ABC shouldn't have jerked him around. They should have flat-out fired him, without any messing around.
If someone had called him a Certain Inappropriate Term for an African-American, there would have been absolutely no hesitation in doing so.

How did they know? That he did it for nothing. Did Isaiah told them in person they did it just for appearances? Are you sure? How much do you know him? For you to believe that he just went through it for appearances. You should never judge other people.

Dianne, to you. Same question.
Did Isaiah tell them in person they did it just for appearances? Are you sure? How much do you know him?
Why else would they relieve him of duty if he supposedly did all he was asked to do? Obviously something else is going on that isn't being specifically told. Like in most employment situations it was simply a decision they had to make, and they made it based on whatever reasons.
They dont just discard popular characters for no reason. There is more going on. Clearly they made the call based on their own observations.

There may have been other issues on the set. It doesn't have to be violent outbreaks, but if there was tension on the set, that could start effecting the show's quality. There may be plenty of reasons they could have had for fireing him that we don't know about.
Also I wouldn't blame them for waiting until the end of the season, I probulby would have done that if I were in charge.
