Bionic Woman gets Katie Sackhoff

Category: Battlestar Galactica, Bionic Woman, News

We found her barely alive. But wait. Now we have the technology to make the drama better, faster, more controversial than ever.

The new Bionic Woman is getting some changes from the pilot, including expanding a role for Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica)

MetroNews says:

Sackhoff, who is still apparently committed to a regular role on Battlestar Galactica after her Starbuck, her character, was resurrected in the last moments of the last season’s cliffhanger ending, was initially cast by David Eick, who is executive producer for Galactica and Bionic Woman. It was convenient, since both shows were filming in Vancouver at the same time, but when it came time to expand her role, Sackhoff held out for better terms right until just before the panel convened.
But that isn't the convtraversy.

Isaiah Washington, who was fired from Grey's Anatomy for his homophobic slur continues to dig the hole deeper and further tarnishing his reputation, has been hired on for a 5 episode story arc. It's being speculated that his bad reputation will harm the show's appeal.

And just like after many pilot episodes, some of the characters face changes. A once hearing impared character on the show will now magically have never been impared as producers feel there may be some fuss over the character playing her is not deaf herself.

Sounds like they are off to a rough start already. But at least it would give us some Katee to look forward to while waiting another 6 months for Battlestar Galactica.

Do you think Washington will alienate some audience with his off screen drama?

I doubt that the Washington issue will affect Bionic Woman at all. Not only is it now well outside the public memory, it was almost a non-issue to start with. He said some garbage, paid for it with his job, and made amends by interviews, apologies and public service announcements.

Bionic Woman's biggest hurdle will be the baggage from the Lindsey Wagner original and also finding it's audience. It doesn't have the camp factor that the original had. Just needs to find it's voice and it doesn't have a long time to do it in.
