In this week’s episode, the “Weho Ho”, Loyalty played a starring role. Eric’s loyalty to Vince is in question, and Ari becomes a little more human through his loyalty to Lloyd.
Lloyd did a 180 from last week’s episode, when he proved himself invaluable as Ari’s clever, cunning sidekick. Lloyd’s a mess after his boyfriend Tom leaves him, but Ari really puts himself out there to get Lloyd back in the game. Now you might argue that Ari’s motives in getting Lloyd out of his sad state and back to work are purely selfish, but I think there’s so much more to it. Ari refers to Lloyd as a “rising star” in the agency, and refuses to work with anyone else, and when he discovers that Lloyd was unfaithful to Tom, he covers for him, albeit with a warning for Lloyd, “I love a liar, but I hate a cheater.” I think this really gives us a sense of what kind of person Ari is. His livelihood depends on lies and manipulation just to make a living, but when it comes right down to it, he’s an honest, caring man with the people who really matter to him, and Lloyd has reached that rank in Ari’s life. Jeremy Piven was right when he said prior to the start of this season that Ari would prove he has a heart.
Eric has really come out of his shell, and has made some very ballsy moves and statements. Now, he’s going against what his friend and client wants. Eric’s hoping that there’s still a chance that another director can replace Billy on the next film project, but a move like that could jeopardize Medellin’s potential success. Even though Billy admits he was wrong to accuse Eric of leaking the trailer, and apologizes, Eric does not want to spend another year working with a very unstable director that may have already passed his prime. For the very first time, there is discord between Vince and Eric. Vince is determined to do “Into the Clouds” against Eric’s advice. I can’t help but wonder how this will impact both their friendship, and their working relationship.
The third storyline, with Turtle and Drama joining one of Turtle’s cousins in a potential money making scheme, was lost on me. It was boring and predictable, mere filler in an otherwise solid episode. It was nice to Louis Lombardi’s face again, but it wasn’t enough to make this thread hold any water with me.
An episode has never ended with tension between Eric and Vince, and I think this could take the show to a new place where business and friendship don’t mix. I really like the sense of uncertainty created that Vince’s career ambitions may win out over long-standing friendships.

Hey Melissa
I have to agree with most of what you stated, but not all. I do agree that Ari is showing his heart/soft side, but maybe too much, especially with this weeks' episode. It's just too soft.
As for the Eric/Vince situation, I do see it coming to a hilt, but the friendship is too strong to let the differences of opinion ruin it. I do believe there will be tension between the two, but nothing that doesn't get resolved. Maybe that's the climax for this season, especially with the preview for this Sunday's episode?
The third act with Drama and Turtle is filler, for sure, but then any story with those two usually is. I do love these characters, but I think this whole "your cousin screwed us too many times" storyline will come back into play.
