Here it is folks, my favorite ep of Series 3! And the Doctor is barely in it! What the deuce?! Instead Carey Mulligan takes the stage as Sally Sparrow (a character that is just begging to be revisited - she;d be an excellent companion! Or at least the actress needs to be given her own series immediately, she's great!) The Doctor is trapped in the past without his TARDIS and it's up to Sally Sparrow to solve the riddle of DVD Easter Eggs and avoid malignant statues that can move when you aren't watching them and get the TARDIS back to our lost Time Lord!
There is nothing that I didn't like about this episode, it's got a real sense of fun, right from the get-go when Sally finds a message written to her on the walls of a deserted house, and a real sense of creep, with statues that move when you aren't looking at them. The episode is well executed, and put together so well.
I don't want to ruin the ep at all for those who haven't seen it yet, but if it helps put the episode in perspective, it's written by Steven Moffat who wrote the Series 1 two-parter The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances ("Are you my mummy?") and my fave episode of Series 2 The Girl In The Fireplace ("Always take a banana to a party!") What did you guys think of it?
Doctor Who airs Mondays on CBC.
