Garofalo Joins the Cast of 24

Category: 24

Although details are scarce at this point, according to Michael Ausiello over at TV Guide, Janeane Garofalo is the newest member of the cast of 24.

Here’s a bit of what Ausiello shared:

Although details of the casting are few and far between at this point, what I can tell you is this: 1) Come fall, she'll be a regular, 2) her character will be an FBI agent, and 3) since the comedienne's persona often brings to mind Mary Lynn Rajskub's prickly Chloe, the potential for on-screen fireworks is greater than it has been during any of the show's previous bomb threats.
Now I don’t find this as far fetched an idea as Ausiello seems to think it is. Garofalo was, after all, on 15 episodes of the political drama The West Wing as the media strategist Louise Thornton. Why not an FBI agent on 24? After a disappointing sixth season, and storyline troubles for the seventh season delaying the filming schedule, can casting someone like Garofalo help 24 return to its former glory? I know I’ll be giving it another chance. At the very least, the potential on-screen tension between Rajskub’s Chloe and Garofalo’s character will be entertaining to watch!
