Journeyman Preview

Category: Journeyman

Journeyman is one of many new shows premiering on NBC this fall, and it looks like another step in the right direction.

NBC.com says:

“Journeyman” is a romantic mystery-drama about Dan Vasser(Kevin McKidd, “Rome”), a San Francisco newspaper reporter and family man who inexplicably begins to travel through time and change people’s lives. Along the way, he also must deal with the difficulties and stress at work and home brought on by his sudden disappearances. However, his freewheeling travels through the years reunite him with his long-lost fiancée Livia(Moon Bloodgood, “Day Break”)- which complicates his present-day life with wife Katie(Gretchen Egolf, “Martial Law”) and their son.
Now, I must confess, I have not seen any episodes of Rome, so I don’t know what to expect from McKidd. But a lot of people seem to dig the guy, so hopefully he can do well here. I can tell that this show probably won’t be focusing on any scientific aspects of time travel, but will focus on people. That is a good thing. Character driven shows like Lost and Heroes are big right now, and it looks like Journeyman can continue the trend.

One thing I am concerned about, however, is that it may turn out to be a soap. I’m not a big “romance” kinda guy, so hopefully the romance won’t be overblown or cliched. So, I leave it up to you guys. Does Journeyman look like it will be the next “Heroes”? Or will it crash and burn?
