Even though Series 4 has barely gotten underway with the Christmas Episode filming in Cardiff, many fans are wondering what is going to become of our favorite time-traveler at the end of the series. At the end of Series 4 David Tennant, the current Doctor, and show-runner Russell T Davis are both due to step down.
There's been no word on whether negotiations have become to extend David's contract (oh please oh please) so names and rumors are already being bandied around as the next regeneration of the Time Lord.
The name been shouted, specifically from Sun in the UK is that of James Nesbitt. Nesbitt is currently starring in Cold Feet, and had a run on the BBC series "Jekyll." I knew the face but couldn't place it until I hit IMDB and saw that he'd been in the wonderful comedy Waking Ned Devine, The Boys & Girl From County Clare, and Match Point.
Doctor Who series writer Steven Moffat posting on the Outpost Gallifrey boards (you need to register to access the actual thread), has decided to put an end to the rumors of Irish actor James Nesbitt taking over the role of The Doctor from David Tennant at the end of Series 4.
He says: "The James Nesbitt story is a total fabrication. Made up. A fantasy.
So if Tennant is leaving at the end of the series, who would you like to see come in to replace him?
Just a guy sitting at a desk and just inventing stuff. I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm getting embarrassed for the deeply wonderful Jimmy Nesbitt. So tell everyone please, cos it's getting very silly."

It was difficult (for me) when Eccleston left because I enjoyed his Doctor so much. It only took 1 episode for me to love Tennant.
It's hard to imagine a new Doctor while your still watching Tennant.
