In a press release issued by the BBC today an announcement has been made regarding Series 5 of Doctor Who (series 4 is currently lensing in and around Cardiff and begins in 2008)."In 2009, Doctor Who will return with three specials starring David Tennant, with Head Writer, Russell T Davies. The full length fifth series will transmit in 2010."
Arrgh!
That makes me cranky, but it would also seem to be a healthy indicator that David is probably sticking around for awhile then, as his commitments to The Royal Shakespeare Company next year would preclude any extended leave time to shoot Doctor Who episodes. Sounds like Russell, David and company are gonna give us three stand alone specials (hopefully longer than the Children In Need specials) and then begin filming Series 5 when David is done his stage work next year.
(Hope Hope).
What do you guys think?

As long as Tennant continues to play the Doctor I really don't care how long it'll take us to get to Series 5, he's a great Doctor and has actually replaced Tom Baker, who I grew up watching on PBS in the 80s with my parents, as my favorite Doctor.
I'm really, really looking forward to Series 4 and can't wait until the Christmas Special this year. Series 3 was great and I wanna see where they'll take the Doctor next.

Noa, I agree completely, I grew up with Tom as The Doctor, but sorry to say, he's been eclipsed by Mr. Tennant. He simply IS The Doctor. And sure I can wait... but I don't wanna.
