So as we join Earl in prison this week we find him still doing good deeds. The warden (Craig T. Nelson aka "Coach") calls Earl in to thank him for helping the guy last week gets paroled. He is so grateful that he gives Earl a week off from his prison sentence. This week sees the warden asking Earl to try to curb the violence between the two main gangs. If he can do it, he can get a month off his prison sentence. Meanwhile, Randy misses Earl so much that he looks for a way that they can be together.
I am not sure how I like this direction. I really like the interaction between Earl and the warden, but the prospect Earl earning time off his sentence every week, well I am not sure how much I like that. I know that Earl has to get out at some point, and that likely they want him out this season; they cannot really make the prison thing work for two years. I did like how the theme was love rather than Karma. Cause in a way, karma is about love, and what love can bring back to you.
