Time to Revisit Numb3rs... Again

Category: Funstuff

We live in a time when there is a lot of “average” TV. Just because a show makes it to a third or fourth year isn’t really indicative of its quality. One show that keeps popping up on my TiVO each week for the past year or so is NUMB3RS. The females in my house gravitate to the show and usually drag me with them…and I like the show. In fact, I really like the show!

Imagine this, a season premiere episode directed by Tony Scott (Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Days of Thunder) and guest stars Val (IceMAN!) Kilmer as one of the best villains seen on TV in years.

Yeah…on NUMB3RS! That little show about Bernard the elf from The Santa Clause who uses math to help his brother Dr. Joel Fleischman solve crimes while caring for their elderly father Alex the Taxi driver. Too much (I know, I gotta get a life!)

After a year where NUMB3RS was criticized for losing site of its “gimic” (the math used to solve crimes) the show has rebounded solidly this year with hard core action, serious drama and a return to plausible mathematical solutions to the stories. Tony Scott and his brother Ridley (yes…that Ridley Scott!) are Executive Producers of the show and arguably both know how to make a good action oriented procedural drama, but this year the show is really hitting its stride and has become a can’t miss here in WalleyWorld. If you have never seen NUMB3RS or even if it’s been a while since you have, it’s time to tune in Fridays on CBS.
